I do. Having an issue with the brakes since I bought the car. Seems to be very common with this brakes, any ideas what the fix is? Very very noisy. Car gets driven everyday.

There is a bulletins involving brake squeak on initial apply, those suckers can really scream. We use the Brembo stuff at work but any copper paste will do. You don't need a lot, just a little bead on either end of the pad and on the backing plate. I'm sure you can Google it and find it. I use the GM site but I think most of the bulletins are public information.

Bulletin#: 17-NA-040

Let me know if you need any more info. Depending on your mileage it may still be covered under warranty, I've done countless Brembo equipped Cadillac's for brake squeaks.

Not sure what dealer you work at but McGuire has done nothing to help. They are telling me I need to wait for Moly Lube, they put some other type of grease on there and it made it 10x worse. Director of Service is completely useless. Tells me the lube is on back order for 2 months now. Car is a CPO and is still under warranty. Im taking it to Crown on Thursday to see if they can fix the situation. It’s embarrassing to drive. Car has less the 20k miles and the brakes scream like a NJ Transit bus.

I used to work at Crown and have a good friend who works at McGuire. Sorry to hear about your troubles. They more than likely blew you out the door, I’ve seen it all too often. Bulletins need to be followed closely, unfortunately they rarely are. Especially something like this; it’s easy for a guy to just slap on some lube and call it a day. If I get one that really gives me problems I’ll cut the rotors and get new pads, then apply the copper paste. I’ll check tomorrow if we have it in stock just to see and let you know.

If you end up going to Crown, try and ask for Chris to work on your car. He’s a great tech and an honest guy. I’ll give him a heads up.

I have seen those bulletins, John 6sp sent them to me. I’m Dropping it off Thursday night. I’ll ask for Chris to work on it, if that’s possible. Thank you for your input. I got listen to my wife pull into the driveway with it everyday and it drives me nuts. If it was out of warranty I would do it myself.

Totally understandable. It is amazing how loud those things can get.

Are the brakes different between the ATS and CTS? I have a 2016 CTS 2.0T that just rolled 31k and they are dead silent.

MDSheds_SS 08-23-2018 11:22 AM

I’m not to sure, my car has the Brembos on it. Taking it to the dealer I purchased it from tonight. We will see where it goes from there.

Both the same, the XTS uses a slightly different caliper. I've had both ATS's and CTS's squeak.

qwikz28 08-30-2018 09:02 AM

I didn't know the ATS and CTS used the same calipers. Makes sense though, they are plenty strong.

Out of curiosity, was the squeak fixed?

MDSheds_SS 08-30-2018 09:46 AM

I believe it is fixed. I haven’t driven the car yet, but the wifey says it’s much better. Overall customer service at the 2nd dealership was 10x better.

Was that Cadillac of Mahwah?

MDSheds_SS 08-30-2018 04:23 PM

Crown Cadillac handled the situation, the original dealer was McGuire in Woodbridge. I’ll never go there again. Rude, unhelpful, and full of ****.

Update, had the car out for a good part of the day and the brake noise is back. Back to the dealer again next week.
