Happy New Year 2023 - Any goals for the coming year-2024 goals

Happy New Year all.

Be safe

So, whats your motorhead goals for 2023

I'll start

Race the Friday Night Gamblers Series with my 57 Chevy. 5th year doing so.

1. Need to make some carbs adjustments to improve it's consistency in hot humid summer weather. Run a nostalgia event or 2.

2. Make some carb adjustments on my 80 Firebird (w/sbc) My backup car.

Convert car over to flex fuel, tune it for E85, then go run 9s

ThoR294 01-02-2023 04:36 PM

Tune dialed in
Hood painted
new calipers/pads/rotors
go faster than 13s

Would be awesome to get to more events this year.
- Only got to do one autocross event last year, but that one is my best to go to.
- Drag racing, well I'm pretty close to where I expected the car to be for the next couple years. On motor, I don't expect it to get much quicker than the 11.67, but an 11.5x would be cool. It cut a 1.44 sixty foot on motor and thats probably as good as it will get. However, I still have some testing to do with nitrous, and I had always hoped this car would be a solid mid-10 second car on nitrous, and the 10.601 is good, but that was with the old converter and some other variables. If this car could click off a low 10 second timeslip like a 10.35, that would be killer. I've still only sprayed the 175 shot a handful of times, and maybe eventually I'll get to that 200 shot.
- Car shows, I will get to some, but I'd rather be at the track. So I will get to some important local ones, some of the big ones (carlisle), and some cruise nights.

I do want to get the car to Atco this year, its been since 2020 when I was there, so i am going to put that as a 2023 goal.

If I can somehow get to try my hand at the bracket events, or even the Friday night gamblers events at island, maybe I could work on try to get better reaction times and consistency so I could go some rounds at an event.

Finish building my 327
build my 400
Weld up the bodies on my 51 Chevy and 69 SS
:) but of course they have been on the list for years now already!

Blackbirdws6 01-03-2023 02:15 PM

Just a short list...

New Shop - Finish organizing/layout and get a two post lift.
81 Bird - Fix coolant leak, new trans/converter
97 Bird - Fix leaks from rear diff and likely RMS. Depending how far down rabbit hole I go, could be fun to do proper fuel lines, bigger injectors and see what it will do on race gas
V - Likely some semi minor under hood cosmetic stuff

Anti_Rice_Guy 01-04-2023 07:04 AM

Camaro: Drive it more than 2x or 50 miles per year. Find a car seat that fits in the back while allowing someone to sit in the passenger seat. Change the oil.
Boatercycle: Keep on keepin' on
Quad: Decide if selling or not. Haven't ridden it in like 1.5 years

It's a big year for toys . Work and a kid have kept me extremely busy and I'm glad I stuck with my idea of keeping things simple....I can hop in any of the 3 and go for a ride at any point without fear. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have touched them at all.

maroman88 01-04-2023 08:58 AM

keep the fleet in driveable condition lol

BonzoHansen 01-04-2023 01:28 PM

Part out this 4th yet I have in the garage. Should be mostly dismantled by eow.
Get the red car just ready for spring.
Start getting the 67 autocross ready.

Blackbirdws6 03-07-2023 09:41 AM

Post new years check-in. Anyone get anything done?

ThoR294 03-07-2023 06:58 PM

Nope. Waiting for no more salt on road to drive the trans am. Trying to keep it in pristine shape lol

BonzoHansen 03-07-2023 08:15 PM

The 4th gen parts are clearing out.

But if break everything I touch was my plan, mission accomplished

I kept telling myself I was going to work on this car all winter, but just got started on it over this weekend. Current list to do is:

1. Move battery back to the front
2. LS6 Valley cover and eliminate catch can and valve cover breather
3. New valve covers and LS3 coil packs
4. New alternator from a HD truck
5. C6 power steering pump with adapter kit to relocate reservoir
6. Reinstall AC (and pick up parts from Scott)

Then the car goes to Josh for some clutch work (I really need to call him to schedule that) and then a better tune and some interior work.

Getting there.

Get it on the road for the first time in about 6 years. Motors swapped, found the steering rack leaking at the input shaft, can't get it to shift so I bought a magnum f so that needs to get installed, finish fuel pump install, finish the suspension swap (Afco coilovers, watts link), and find someone to actually tune it.

Blackbirdws6 04-25-2023 08:27 AM

New Shop - Finish organizing/layout and get a two post lift. [DONE]
81 Bird - Fix coolant leak, new trans/converter [DONE]
97 Bird - Fix leaks from rear diff and likely RMS. Depending how far down rabbit hole I go, could be fun to do proper fuel lines, bigger injectors and see what it will do on race gas [Leaks perhaps resolved]
V - Likely some semi minor under hood cosmetic stuff [DONE]

Camaro: Found car seat that works. Now it needs to not rain every day.
Boatercycle: Easy, done!
Quad: Sold for high asking price in 3 days.

My main goal was to get new tires on the purple people eater so I could drive it. The previous tires were 13 years old and were no longer rubber.

Got that done, can now enjoy car. Hopefully I can put more than 100 miles a year on it now.

Sounds like an old fashioned dyno day is in order.

Not in jail technically lol. Haven't had time to do the brakes yet! And waiting on Larry to get dyno going.

The tires were old and hard enough that I was more worried about one of them deciding to part ways with the tread and taking out body panels with it. The difference in traction between the old and crappy (even when new) nexen tires and the new general tires is night and day.

I get it. Fresh rubber always is a feel good. Plan ahead for future send off next time though.

Yeah, I have no plans to leave the tires on there for 13 years again, haha.
