Im sorry bibbly I have to ask...why?

Mulletbird 09-28-2008 08:24 PM

Well, my grandfather had one installed in his Eagle Vision ('94) back when he got it... I still have it (sorry, not parting with it - it's in perfect condition, and, well, he left it to me with the car when he died). Kinda one of those things you can't sell really. Of course, he was probably much more old school than this guy... maybe he wants to sell a classic car and have it more original?

Certain stuff sounds good on an 8 track.

like skynyrd?

BonzoHansen 09-28-2008 09:21 PM

I had an 80 Celica for a winter, in 94 maybe. Hit a guardrail with it & sold it for more than I paid, but that is a different story. It had a working factory 8-track. I rounded up Black Sabbath I & Paranoid, Physical Graffitti and some others on 8-track.

But no, nothing sounds better on 8-track, unless you are comparing it to cassette, perhaps.

Better? No, not in terms of sound quality. But certian things have a vintage feel when you listen to them on an 8 track or a scratchy LP. Kinda like driving an old big block vs an LS1. Just sayin...

ROFL!

What's sad is I know what you're talking about...

Stevoone 09-29-2008 10:45 AM

I have one sitting in my tool-box. I wired it up a few months ago and the fm stations sounded pretty good. I don't have any 8-track tapes to test it with. It's a Pioneer tp-900.
Found this one on Ebay, same as the one I have but mine is not that clean.

My younger brother and I both own working 8 track players. Home stereo ones though, not automotive. We still have a lot of my dad's 8 track tapes around too.

Get a stool, they are probably on the shelf or table.
