Blown Shock Symptoms

Took out the car yesterday and when I got it back to the garage, noticed driver side was wayyyyy low.

I pulled tire off and no mechanical issues shown, so I can only imagine shock blew out?

try to bounce it and compare the results side to side.

go gentle at first, try not to cave the fender in!

I didn't do that before I yanked it apart

Was hoping it was simple and the top hat part had broken allowing the shock to travel up. But no such luck. Only thing I could find is the spring had slipped off its perch.

shock blowing out would not lower ride height as the spring is what supports the weight. If the shock compressed and bound up limiting it from returning to ride height then yeah, the shock is bad.

Yea, that was my thought as well, but no indication of leaking fluid etc.

Tossed it back together and will see if I can get it to droop again.

Check the opposite corner? If you're talking front shock, maybe something went wonky/out of place passenger side rear?

As an update, cranked more on the shock to level front end. And it seems to continuously want to droop after a long drive.

Guess I am swapping it.

That's pretty odd. Either bad spring, or something giving way/bending?

Or shock bound up internally and not allowing full travel after compression.

Could be that too, but you'd figure that it would manifest as noises/clunks. It'll be interesting to see what it is at any rate.
