Wheel Bearing Clunk

Trying to narrow down some clunking noises from the rear of the car. Rear is a S60

Currently have verified all suspension is tight and no signs of parts hitting chassis.

-Pressing down on car rear does not create noise
-Pushing side to side does make clunk
-Pushing rear tire side wall does make clunk, and feels like something is moving.

So, thinking perhaps wheel bearings are shot? Being as they look to suck to R&R, any tests I can do prior to that?

...lug nuts ?

ThoR294 12-21-2018 06:30 AM

do you SEE anything moving?

Panhard bushing or end links?

Get the tricycle rider to lay underneath and see if he can hear where its coming from

Panhard looks to be good conduit and tight, end links on drag bar are tight as well.

does it happen with wheels off the ground also?

LTb1ow 12-21-2018 11:36 AM

That is my next test, I will see if the noise is def wheel/axle related.

If so, anyone wanna buy a S60??

The_Bishop 12-21-2018 05:20 PM

Possible side-to-side play in axles? Is it c-clip or c-clip eliminated?

IROCZman15 12-22-2018 06:02 AM

is your gas cap tightened ?!

did you try turning it off and back on again?

LTb1ow 12-27-2018 06:07 PM

Attempted to change the fluid in rear today, and hit a snag.

Does anyone know off hand what size the fill/drain plug is? Seems to be smaller than 3/8

The_Bishop 12-28-2018 01:03 PM

Is it square? 99% of the time you can stick a 3/8 ratchet extension in there. Odd for it to be smaller.

Blackbirdws6 12-28-2018 01:08 PM

It's 3/8 allen

sweetbmxrider 12-28-2018 04:32 PM

Hammer time

LTb1ow 07-24-2019 08:07 PM

To bump this up.

Replaced pax side shock with new CE piece, no luck.

Still clunks worse than my truck over bumps.

ThoR294 07-25-2019 06:06 AM

when you make the clunk sound, do you have someone looking under the car to see what clunks?
