WHY is the Toyota LAND CRUISER so EXPENSIVE???

Anyone know? I mean wow is this car expensive. And it holds its value TREMENDOUSLY. 180,000 miles 1996 $9000 bucks.

gtfo!

JL8Jeff 12-07-2011 07:53 AM

Anyone who believes book value on anything over 100K miles is stupid. People overpay for those trucks to begin with so of course they think they hold their value. But any vehicle with 196K on it is going to have lots of maintenance issues in the near future so $9000 is a pipe dream.

Blacdout96 12-07-2011 08:09 AM

i remember selling those during the beginning of the recession....they were going for 60K average. Just like the Land Rover's, and Porsche Caymen, I cannot justify any mid size SUV over 40K, in the end, it's still a vehicle with 4 tires and a roof over your head.

Noodles 12-07-2011 08:23 AM

Jeffm don't think for a second this is something I want. I'm just curious.

WHO IS going to justify that? what's the market for a 96 with 180k for $10k

sweetbmxrider 12-07-2011 09:51 AM

The toyota trucks hold value as well, they just keep going.

LS1ow 12-07-2011 10:03 AM

like jeep wranglers...

Frosty 12-07-2011 12:25 PM

They were hella-expensive new....people still think they're worth their weight in gold. If people are getting that much for that year/mileage all the power to them.

LTb1ow 12-07-2011 01:07 PM

Y u guise so jelly

Noodles 12-07-2011 04:24 PM

No! No power to them!

They only keep going if you spend lots of $$$ on maintenance. Timing chains, water pumps, timing belts, tensioners, etc. add up real quick. Any vehicle will keep going if you throw enough $$$ at it like Toyota and Honda owners do. GM, Ford and Dodge owners won't spend the money on maintenance.

They are the last real offroad vehicle toyota imported to the US also.

Solid axles front and rear.

Front and rear locker options

Coils front and rear.

I mean I know not everyone looks at them from that standpoint but they truly are the last "worldy" toyota imported.

have fun fixing the front seals on that diff when it starts leaking, stupid ball set up

qwikz28 12-07-2011 07:46 PM

My friend had one that I used to drive alot when I just got my license. I love them. I want to get one and swap in a GM 5.3 or something. Unbelievable.

He had this model but in an ugly green color and a rusty brush guard and tail light guards:

i think you'd be surprised at all the poorly maintained toyotas there are out there.

sweetbmxrider 12-07-2011 10:10 PM
