98 MPPM Corvette

So those of you with IG or FB already no this, but last week i picked up a new car.

I wanted to get out of my SRT4(even though i loved it) and into something with a V8. Originally i was looking at GTOs, V1s and G8s. I wanted something i can get in and drive anywhere i want, heat/ac/PS, and not draw all the wrong type of attention like the SRT4 did. After wrenching on my buddies C5 Z06 i decided why not one of these. So i started to browse.

I wasn't really looking to hard, but then the SRT4 sold, and i didnt want to be without a fun car for summer so i started to look a bit more. The SRT sold on a weds, and on friday this car was sent to me to check out. Sunday night i went to check her out, monday i drove back with the trailer.

Deets:

-1 of 381 in Medium Purple Pearl Metallic, 229 of which are coupes. Among that 229 their are 3 different interior colors, Black(mine), light gray and light oak. So the car breaks down into a pretty rare unit.

-1 owner

-70k miles

-Corsa Exhaust

-Vararam Intake

-C6 Z06 Wheels

-Z06 front grills/side grills(not sure how i feel about them, but side grills are functional so no choice but to keep them)

-most importantly, its the same color as my very first car. Some of you will remember that car. I bought it when i was 15, worked on it for 2 years. 383 Stroker, TH350, pretty much everything else you can do but a rear end and boost. Only to have my dad crash it 1 month after i turned 17 and was able to drive it.

Nice car, Can i ask how much C5s are going for?

Got my wife a C6 Grand Sport last year, 2010 30k miles 6spd manual, all the options, for only $30k. I felt that price was a steal for how much car we got

so i know the opposite is possible since everyone does it, but is it possible to run Fbody fitment wheels on a C5?

I have the BBS LMs on the camaro now, and i would love to see em on the C5...

Nothing yet.

Actually ran into the first issue with the car.

Was cruising around and the check gauges light flashed, followed by a message on the screen for low fuel. Gauge is dead at empty. SO much so that it is clearly something up. But since i still have not put gas in the car myself from purchase(bought it with a full tank) i figured maybe there is a chance i completely overlooked it since ive had so much fine ripping it around.

Pulled in to get gas, took about $10. Started up, fuel gauge read full, and then about a mile down the road plummeted back to 0.

From what ive read, this is a pretty common problem with C5s. The gas in the tank(other than the $10 i added) is from November/December from what the guy said. People say add some techron and see what happens, so i will be going that route.

Other than that, the car is a blast to drive.

forgot to update on the first "mod" i did.

Car came with Halo LED tails. While they are the older style where the halo is not as pronounced, after seeing a few post it seems you can mod them to be like the updated units. So i got to work.

Here is a pic of how the lights look "unmodded"

decided not to get ahead of myself and pulled out 1 light to tinker with. The process is actually simple. You just need to connect some wires and add some resistors. If anyone wants to do it, i can post up how.

Here is the "modded" vs stock tail light.

and here is the job all done. Also added some LED reverse lights, license plate lights(your welcome BLS) and side markers while i was back there.

I think the chrome slotted tail light covers would really finish this off nicely.

I drove the car up to mahwah this past week and saw some signs of life on the gauge after 1 bottle of techron! It would come on and off. Hopefully it continues breaking it down.

Car is currently up at one of the shops i deal with, Eurotech Motorsports, for tint, paint correction and ceramic coat

LS1ow 06-18-2020 12:31 PM

Car is done. Will be picking it up in the next day or so. excited to have it back

LS1ow 06-19-2020 08:35 AM

picked the car up last night. Cell phone pics do not do the job they did justice. It looks better than the brand new audis i have in my showroom.

They took some pics with their camera, soon as i get them ill post em up here.
