track vids - NJMP Lightning - z06

This was my first time at this track.
I ran a fast lap of 1:15 on Friday on scrub R6's (295 front, 315 rear). On Saturday, I ran a few 13.6's on new 275 A6's in my first three sessions. For my last session, I put the rear sway bar to its softest setting (from middle) and drive harder and got a 1:12.7 to come in 2nd place (update - I came in 1st place because of a rules infraction of some kind and set a track record for the class). The catch cans caught about 3/4 quart of oil that would be been ingested by the intake.

My fastest run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QL3Tlmt5ng

Sick!

Great post, as usual. Is the black Vette on stock suspension? Looks like it leans more in the corner.

That black vette is actually the national champ in TTB (one class slower than TTA which is my class).
Over the winter, he went up to TTA.
I believe he has stock z06 shocks and springs, stock rear sway bar, but slightly bigger front bar (32mm versus 30mm stock).
We run same tires, 275 hoosier A6’s.
Mine has less body roll because I have huge T1 sway bars (about 38mm front).

great video. How early were you getting on the brakes for turn 1? When I was there for RTTS people were all over the place, some braking way back close to the flag stand, other running it in and letting the tail lead a bit over the crest.

You are flying man! You do it so effortlessly too.

Thanks guys!
I probably brake a tad early for turn 1; just about where the start/finish line is. but then again i was hitting 142 mph which isn't bad for a relatively short straight. That banked turn before the main straight is the key to going that fast though.

That sweeping turn scared the crap out of me. It's such a high speed turn. I had no idea how far I was from the limit, but was scared to find out. I don't think I reached past 110 on the straight as a result. My brakes were toast after the first few hot laps, so maybe that was for the better (I was late braking into the turns, lesson learned).

You have a cage in the car at all?

nope, race seats, 4 point harness bar, 6 point harness, HANS device.
The z06 has a nice integrated hoop built in to the top which is very sturdy in case there is a rollover.
Car is still a street car so no cage this year.

Hmm, good to know. I was thinking that I should probably get a hoop and seatbelt bar in my car if I want to go to the track like that.

Awesome videos BTW. I cant wait to be able to go
