im not sure if this is in the right spot but yeah

In the last year i thik i blew both door speakers and a sail panel speaker.. just wondering if you guys know any good place to take it to get them all replaced..

Spring is pretty much here and that means ill be driving with the windows down and the music up..

any suggestions as to where to take it? and/or what to put in it...

not looking to go crazy just > or = the stock monsoon

Tru2Chevy 03-16-2010 07:30 PM

Replacing just speakers is easy enough, you can do it yourself in 45 mins taking your time.

Have you gotten stock replacement speakers from another monsoon-equipped f-body yet?

V 03-16-2010 08:22 PM

No, but i wouldn't replace just a few of the stock speakers with aftermarket ones. Either keep 'em all stock, or swap them all to aftermarket.

I don't remember exactly what the difference is, but the monsoon system is setup differently than most stock audio systems, I wanna say that each speaker has it's own individual amp or something like that.

Anyway - If you just wanna take it somewhere or talk to a shop about it, I recommend these guys. I haven't had any work done there, but I have seen jobs done for some friend's cars, and they all turned out great

sorry im retarted. can you explain what that means... and why i need to know that?:-?

BonzoHansen 03-17-2010 08:41 PM

I'm not the right person to ask. I was really answering Tru2chevy's comment "I don't remember exactly what the difference is, but the monsoon system is setup differently than most stock audio systems, I wanna say that each speaker has it's own individual amp or something like that.". There is one amp and a pile of 2 ohm speakers and one pair of 4 ohm speakers (IIRC).

I think if you replace 2s with 4s they won't be as loud. And it might be possible to damage the amp, although that is getting out of my realm of knowledge. I know mismatched impedances can be bad, I just don't know the extent or details.

I also know that there are a few aftermarket replacements for your monsoon stuff, but I don't know exactly what ones. I'll defer to the 4th gen guys on that.

Try this

This place is top notch. Have seen extremely custom stereo set ups, and basic jobs from there, but the quality is excellent regardless of budget. 2 friends have used them and have heard nothing but good things. I plan on going there to do a system for the IROC..hopefully within the next year..a few more important things on the "to do to the IROC" list first..hehe

thats kinda far for me.. anyone hear anything about Hi-Fi in edison on RT.1?

i went there to get an aftermarket alarm system out of my dd.. they did a good job and they did it quicker than they said they would.. for a decent price.. i may swing by there early tomorrow just to ask..

my main concern is that it sounds at least as it should stock.. cause it seriously sounds like poop

RiggsLW81 03-19-2010 11:16 AM

to me...excellent craftsmanship is worth a long ride. Josh at JS is 100 miles from me, but for major work, I make the trek.

I never understood people who would rather get work done somewhere cause its conveniently located..I want it done right the first time personally. not saying that a local place wont, but I know from experience you wouldnt have issues at Sound Waves.. Old Bridge to Parsippany is only an hour-ish ride.

cheap work aint good and good work aint cheap.

Adam1978 03-31-2010 11:46 PM

i went to PC Richard and son,the guy that installed it left wires everywhere that i had to tie up, but it was free of charge so what could i say, and the head unit i got needed to be ordered, well 2 weeks later it still wasnt there, so they upgraded me twice free of charge, i spent $150 on a $320 head unit, and got the speakers and unit installed for free! they may not be the best best, but have an okay selection and are great with customer service, i didnt plan on getting upgraded twice for nothing haha
