NRG Steering Wheel

Picked up an NRG Steering wheel complete with their Quick Releaser & Hub Adapter for my Firebird and installed it yesterday. I had seen these on Ebay & Amazon for some time now and after seeing them pop up online to good review I pulled the trigger on the complete assembly. The added Quick Release adds to the over-all length, but the wheel is sturdy, feels great, and really gives positive feed back. It also has a horn button with really well put together wiring tabbed in. My initial impressions are that it is an amazing upgrade over the factory wheel for the over-all cost.

Part Numbers:
NRG Innovations ST-012S 320mm Sport Suede Steering Wheel Race
NRG SRK-170H Steering Wheel Short Hub Adapter
NRG Innovations SRK-200BK Quick Release

Let me know what you think, and ask any questions. The kit doesn't include instruction but its a super straight forward install.

Looks slick. Are there any electronic issues from losing the airbag, like lights being lit up on the dash?

Dig it. Did you add a resistor for the bags or no?

Nice, I like it. I would probably ruin the material in short order with dirty hands though

how much was the wheel if you don't mind me asking and how difficult was the install?

I dont trust my own gauge cluster, I have lights that are out when I switched to LED's, but I removed the entire airbag system when I had the dash out. I'll get back to you on that when I get a new cluster. I busted mine messing with the needles.

All together I spent $270 for all three pieces. The install was super straight forward, two T27 Torx bolts to remove the air bag, unplug the horn & radio controls, remove the 21mm(?) nut that holds the wheel on, using a steering puller I removed the OEM wheel, and then I had to remove some airbag components, the NRG Hub is already notched to match the factory set up and orientation, drop it in, and use the supplied bolts to reassemble it.

You can just pull the bulb if it is lit, that's what I did when I had a grant in my camaro.

Looks great. I always wanted to make the switch but was scared by insurance nannies.

Friend's shop just fixed a wrx with a racing wheel, insurance didn't care. Now if you cracked your head open and tried suing someone, could be a problem? Don't know.....

The cracking my head open was the concern.

yeah, they might have a problem with bodily injury. plus if are getting a SRS (or ABS) discount and they find you do not have it, well, that technically might be fraud.
