Rain or Shine?

Is the event rain or shine this sunday? Right now it's looking like thunderstorms. Could be a repeat of last year.

BonzoHansen 08-17-2006 01:09 PM

Did it rain last year? I thought it was hotter than hell out.

NJSPEEDER 08-17-2006 03:23 PM

as of now none of the weather services are mentioning any rain for that area tomorrow.

Where the hell are you? Cuba?! Ive heard thunderstorms for about a week and a half, and they said its a definate for late afternoon storms, but most are still unsure on the morning. But, for instance, what if it pours all day long? Would there be a rain date or are we SOL?

BonzoHansen 08-17-2006 03:29 PM

SSshhhhh! You'll jinx us.

Bandit 08-17-2006 05:42 PM

right now calling for "scattered thunderstorms" on Sunday with temps in low 70's

HardcoreZ28 08-17-2006 07:16 PM

Yeah not talking about friday Tim.....talking about sunday. Last year there was a slight cloudburst in the am on the way there but cleared up after. Cloudy and muggy as hell out all day after that.

Great Meadows, NJ weather forecast

So I'm like, also.

Mach1killerls1 08-17-2006 10:02 PM

is there a rain date or is it just not going to happen? i live on long island and so far we have about 15-20 wanting to attend and its going to be atleast a 2 hour+ drive for us. it would really suck to drive all the way there and have it rain so lets hope for no rain or atleast a rain date.

Tsar 08-17-2006 10:08 PM

my weather thing says that Tstorms will be during the evening...trust the pilots :)

Can we can admin to give us an answer on a rain date here??

79CamaroDiva 08-18-2006 11:17 PM

so far there's no raindate printed in the schedule. if there is to be one it will be decided on after this weekend, and will probably be towards the end of the season.

HardcoreZ28 08-18-2006 11:43 PM

So how the hell will we know if it's cancelled or whatnot?

V 08-19-2006 12:06 AM

the forcast is getting better and better as the day goes on

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. West wind between 8 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 64. North wind between 9 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

79CamaroDiva 08-19-2006 06:49 PM

or here's an idea... THANKS PAUL!

how bout instead of everyone calling meeeeee you can all call the track which will conveniently have a recording 908 637 6060, for an 830 opening we will probably decide by 730.

i'm going out tonight so may not be back on to check any PMs, but anyone who has a really long drive, like over an hour, i give anyone who does have my number permission to pass it along (Al, Ian, Paul, Tim, Justin, j0n, Brandon, Jake, JM, Kasey, Noah, Liz, Matt, any of the various Mikes, Vitals and anyone else who might have it). but please... call the track number FIRST!!! I don't want 7 billion calls in the morning if its already cancelled, because i WILL be going back to sleep if thats the case.

Bandit 08-19-2006 07:18 PM

We are at the Holiday Inn in Mt Arlington and it rained for about an hour or so. Looks like chance of rain in the afternoon on Sunday.

I would head up and call on the way.

NJSPEEDER 08-19-2006 08:12 PM

i say even if it rains everyone shows up. we will meet at the track and figure out someplace to go cause trouble...er...umm.....i mean...have fun in a responsible and adult manner :D

It was HOTTER than HELL last year. I think the track temp was 104°!!!!

I sat all day under an umbrella with a soaking wet towel on my head. Its was unbearable.

I can deal with a little drizzle at 70°. I don't have to worry about waxing the car tonight!

NJSPEEDER 08-19-2006 09:45 PM

i am looking at the weather right now. yes, it does say scattered showers adn thunderstorms possible, but it also says there is only a 30% chance of precipitation.
so everyone dispose of the icky sand and get your cars to island!!!!!
