would it blow up?
okay i already have 88mm intake &tb, and lid, lt headers with 3"dumps and i might be forgetting a few things but im thinking of buying a set of fully ported 243's and a ms3 cam and a 100 shot, do you think my motor would blow up? im not really sure how much power that would make but i heard that when you get to 600rwhp your living on borrowed time
thanks for any input |
according to the ls1/ls6 book our bottom end (pistons and cracnk) are good for about 550hp. I have been doing alot of reading in books about building the motor, next is to do some forum lurking to see what everyone says that has the hp.
i am sure you will get more feed though, just something i have been researching. Alot more involved then i thought. |
ya i just am tired of being so slow
|
i hear ya. . . . let the winter project brain storming commence
|
It all depends on you tune.

thanks for the input |
meaning if you have the right tune for your setup, your motor can take it... maybe not forever, but it can take it. if you throw the parts on and get a crap tune and it leans out, it will break, but it can do that bone stock...
|
replace rod bolts(esp. in a '98), and change/rebuild rocker arms(needle bearings FTL).
those will help a lot...on top of a proper tune... |
with the hp and tq numbers in your sig, you should be in the 11s, so how slow are you are you sick of going?
|
mike, i make 425rwhp... and ran 12.79 lmao. i blame suspension setup and bald street tires. maybe there a similar variable in his case.

i agree, no sense in making the engine more powerful if you can't plant whats already there.
|
With that 4000 stall TH400 and your suspension, you damn well be going 11.80 or better...
And why get an out of the box cam that will have you spin your lousy 98 bottom end to the moon to make any kind of power...? |
we can make it last :)
|
thanks for the input guy ill have to call jasper tomorrow and see if they can tell me anything about the motor

Drag bar/sway bar in the back helps alot with roll. Lower control arms/tq arm are a must. |
i forgot about my lca's and i was just looking up on the drag sway bars and thinking of getting one theyre really expensive though so i wanted to find out how good they were before i bought one but looks like ill be picking one up now thanks for the reply
|
It all depends what you want to do with the car...
I have a UMI drag bar on my car... nefore that I ran the Spohn bolt in stock location bar which worked well too. Also, 325# springs in the front seem a little stiff... |
i say F it lets find out!
