Clutch grabs extremely high

97 Trans Am 156k miles. I believe 30-40k on the clutch.
I rarely drive the car anymore, but suddenly the clutch is grabbing right at the very top of the pedals travel. Also when in 5th/6th and u give it gas it just slips the clutch and revs up the engine and makes that magical smell.
Never worked on or had issues with manual transmissions before so I'm clueless.

Sounds like its out of adjustment. IDK how to adjust a hydraulic clutch unfortunately

Sounds like the clutch is toast but pretty early for it to go based on the miles you have. Leaking any oil? Are you sure the clutch is fully disengaging?

miles are a guestimate based on something i was told 8 years ago lol. 156k mile LT1 leaks oil, pulled the inspection cover and didnt see anything wet inside tho. hydraulic res nice and full.

I'd say she is gone then. Pressure plate may have given up causing the clutch to slip.

ordered clutch flywheel and slave. shop of course found the rear main seal leaking which assisted in the demise. should be complete later this week.
