Seeking opinions on new CAT back

1995 Firebird with LT1 - currently have Corsa system behind Kooks long tubes. As you know, engine is basically small block chevy with some tweaks.

Looking to replace with Flowmaster, Magnaflow or “door # 3” (suggestions welcome). Frankly the Corsa’s are too loud for my old ears after ~ 10 plus years. In addition, I am looking to gain an additional 0.5 to 1.0 inches of ground clearance. The Corsa at 5.0 inches deep currently has ~ 4.0 inches of ground clearance and is wearing a nice dent in the center section

Your thoughts?

Hit up Ed Pontiac. He wanted more sound from his Magnaflow system so if yours is louder, maybe a swap is in order.

I had a Flowmaster cat back on my 94 TA back in the day and it was ok...but now I think Flowmaster has been played out. Spintech makes some nice mufflers and IIRC they have a few to chose from according to how raucous you want to be.

I would love to hear your car, don't think I've heard Corsa's on an LT1. I wouldn't mind something louder

I have hooker currently and it's a very nice blend of quiet at cruising and loud at WOT (for a catback only car). It does have a bit of a drone if it stays at 2500 rpm or so though.

Rust master sucks. Don't touch with a 10foot pole.

Do you have cats? Maybe put a resonator in your y pipe to tone it down

try checking on youtube for sound clips of different lt1 exhausts. from what i've heard magnaflow and borla are really great for these cars.

I had a magnaflow and I liked it. Had a deep rumble at idle and flowed well, but wasn't loud enough for me. I ran it with stock manifolds, then LTs with catted y, then added a cam with it. If I change my setup down the road I would go back to MF or try a borla.
Tried a used hooker aerochamber and that was nice. I liked the tone, but it felt restrictive. Swapped that for a corsa which is really loud, especially with LTs and ORY, but I like it since I don't daily the car anymore.

I put a Magnaflow Firebird/Camaro on my 1994 25th Anniversary within the last few months. Since my Bird is a show car only, I was looking to get some extra rumble and have a stock look. When I first started in up, it sounded just like stock. I checked with Magnaflow and was told their muffler was designed to be close to stock as it is listed as a REPLACEMENT muffler and therefore they didn't want to drift too far from what was stock. I also found out it takes 700/800 miles to BREAK IN (meaning it will get a better rumble). My muffler did pick up some sound when letting off on the gas and sounds good at WOT, but it does NOT sound like an LS1 engine at idle.:|
