towing a canadian vehicle in to america. questions
a buddy of mine wants to pick up a car in canada. strictly race and will never be street legal.
what needs to be said at customs? will they let us through if we say we're going to a race? suggestions |
Not trying to be a dick but my suggestion is to check with the government and customs about it.
If anyone would know, maybe V would, but you really should find out straight from the horse's mouth so to speak. |
When I bought my 1970 SS396 from Canada, I went through an import/export company who handled all the paperwork. NJ DMV was still a pita when I went to title and register it but you shouldn't have that problem. You're still going to need some good paperwork to bring it into the country and part of that is safety certification. So if it's a race car that is modified, it might not pass. I know the truck driver that delivered my car told me half the cars on his trailer were rejected by US customs because of modifications and were being returned to Canada. So definitely do the research before shelling out cash for the car.

ill contact v
thanks guys |
is it possible i say im picking it up to do work and am going to return with it?
|
worst thing to do is lie to a law enforcement officer. already that sounds fishy since you are picking a car up in canada and live in new jersey, just to do work on it. i would say what others already said...call customs and see what their rules and regulations are, they would know better than anyone here lol.

Last time, I crossed into Canada I had to show proof that the car I had was mine. |

Just call and be honest with what your doing. Njfboa does not support any drug related questions.... We all know what's really going on here :l
|
U could sneak it in? Sure theres back roads with no boarder checkpoints

Does any of this matter? Its going to come down to what the boarder agent you deal with wants/thinks the rules are. Just bring all of the documentation you have & hope he had good night the day before. haha

is this the same reason you want a private cash flight to tennesse
|
no lol thats just a joke.
TN is for our trucking business |

Somehow I figured you might be looking for that. Keep in mind you will have to pay for the plane, fuel, pilots, inspections, fees/permits, and so forth. Unless you want to make a lot of stops, you will have to rent a bigger plane. It is way more expensive. |
