Machine Shop
Hi Everybody, I'm starting my LS build and I need a good machine shop.
Preferably in North Jersey but I'm willing to travel. Thanks for any advice. |
Fisher machine and eddies valve grinding are both pretty good.
|
I used Haledon Auto, Steve did a great job setting up my LT1. Solid NNJ shop.
If you're willing to travel there's Josh at JSPerformance (Sponsor), a lot of positive reviews from members here, too. |

Josh @ JS Performance has built several motors for members including custom clutches and everyone has been very happy and said it was worth the drive. He's right over the Jersey border in Hulmeville PA.
Dave @ EFX is down the shore if that is more your speed. Quote:

Star Crank in Port Jervis, NY. I've never had him assemble a motor for me but all his machine work has always been spot on. He does everything imaginable. Very knowledgeable guy too.

Mike Tiedemann at MCP Competition Engines. He works out of Tune Time Performance in Lakewood. He's specialized in LS engines for years and I've worked with him briefly when he was at CarTek. Incredibly nice, knowledgeable and honest guy. He ported my LS6 heads and I will be having him do my machine work if I ever get me engine build going.

+1 for Josh at JS Performance. He has been responsible for the entire build of my Iroc...motor, blower, trans, and most recently, the new rear. Even though he is 75 miles from where I live, it is worth it! Josh is very knowledgeable/capable in all areas. I am now working on getting my 83 Caprice back in roadworthy shape, and that car is also being done by JS. 2 thumbs up!

Thanks everybody, a lot of great info.
Just as a heads up the Haledon Auto Machine shop told me that they do not have the right equipment to work on LS engines. Thanks again for all the info. |
A local friend/shop owner told me that Haledon was just bought out by someone that is doing away with the machine shop portion of the company.
