Help!! Damage to my 1991 firebird formula showcar-may total it

Went to an auto show this weekend and was coming back thru Tewsbury on Route 517, when coming to a sharp corner, another car coming in the other direction crossed over the double yellow lines forcing me to take extreme steering corrections which spun me into a guard rail. Long story short, it caught the passenger front bumper side, which then spun the back of the car into the guard rail. I went to my body shop guy (Bostick's Auto Body) where I found out the rear quarter needs to be replaced. I also tried to find OEM original front and rear bumpers-a quarter panel-GTA tail lamps and front passenger fender. I will find out in a couple of days IF it is totaled. If this happens and I can buy back the car (it still drives straight and the divers side looks brand new) I would like to sell the car as a whole. Your getting a MINT interior/ excellent L98 motor/ SLP options/ BORLA exhaust/ Edlebrock stuff/ rear spoiler/ Trans Am Black Diamond Spoke wheels and LOTS more.

Sorry to hear Ed. You will get more money parting the car but if the right person comes along, the whole car could go too. Don't think its worth too much especially if it totals. What are you asking?

Ed, I'm so sorry to hear this. Hope there were no injuries.

BonzoHansen 08-23-2016 10:50 AM

that sucks Ed, so sorry. I hope insurance makes you right.

(edit: moved to lounge since nothing is actually for sale)

I don't know at this point, but I would like to sell it whole. When you consider all the MINT interior pieces-exhaust-wheels and tires-SLP parts-L98-trans etc.

oh wow ed. that is a total bummer. sounds like we both had a rough weekend with our cars. did you have any specialty insurance on it for any type of agreed value? I always liked and appreciated that car and it hurts to hear this news. keep us updated

Just keep in mind that the market for what you have is small. And the potential for having a totaled car sitting around for a while is high.
If it is totaled. And the payout is remotely satisfying, cutting ties with it may be your best course of action.

Assuming it wasn't under like a Grundy/special coverage?

Damn that sucks! That car is a modern classic.

Saw the car at the Cops N Rodders show Saturday. Very nice and clean car. Its can be repaired but understand some may not want to have a wrecked car. Hope you had appropriate insurance. Otherwise, it may total and I do agree with Mike on this one.

That's where I got the accident coming home on route 517:rofl:. I also took Best Interior. My last trophy with that Survivor!

Could always tow it to the next show and see if you still get best interior or if they are a little biased......
