Car Insurance
Who do you have for collector's/toy car insurance?
Since I'm above 25 I guess I can try that as well instead of standard companies. I know State Farm's "collector" insurance is no better than normal and restricts use so it's just insured as a regular car. Follow up question: Does that company require the vehicle to be 20+ or 25+ years old? I have a couple years before that happens  |
I had Hagerty. Good but expensive... I figure I'm paying for the Barrett-Jackson goodie bags in some way. I had to give them a big sheet of all of my modifications.
American Collectors is used by a few people on here. |
Hagerty here. I haven't shopped around much so I might be able to do better.
|
I've been looking into doing this also lately. This company got the best ratings https://www.amig.com/insurance/collector-car/. Not sure if this is the same insurance as mentioned above.
|
I had Hagerty for my AMX. They were OK
|
American Collectors Insurance. i forget if they require it to be 25 years or older. I set my own value (it is called "agreed value" technically). requires car be in solid walled garage, not be raced, need to show 6 or more photos and provide a detailed writeup.

Good discussion went down here not so long ago: http://www.njfboa.org/forums/showthr...tors+insurance
Grundy, ACI, Hagerty, and Condons Kelly were all named |
hagerty wanted an arm and leg vs. geico for me. it was nuts
|
My wife has ACI on her bronco. $7000 agreed value for around $100, used to be $80. I have Leland West, agreed value of $20K for $250/year. 3000 miles a year including pleasure use, $0 deductible. I raised it from 13K to 20K with an email and 4 pics, no list of anything. At the time I only had a 1 car garage and separate policies was the only way to insure both cars.
|
I used National Corvette Museum before and it was super cheap, but I sent them old factory looking photos not the way it sits now. The Trans Am is now on a State Farm and reduced my overall costs as a secondary vehicle to my Silverado + Renters Insurance.

american collectors

Grundy. Currently on 17 camaro ss. $600/yr 40k value. $0 deductible. No mileage limit. Only thng is u need a daily driver. Hagerty was a lot more and geico i have for other cars and they were much more for camaro. Had an 02 ss valued at 10g and it was $180/yr. im a fan of grundy.
|
just switched my 97 WS6 to Hagerty. $225 for the year, also on the policy is my C5 and dads 67 Firebird tho.
|
I already have my Explorer and a company vehicle so I'm fine on the daily thing, as well as being garage kept.
|
Update: car is insured with Hagerty. Got $12k value 2500 mileage cap but no restricted to shows. No issues, no hassle, no pictures.

i dont mean to bump an old thread but rather than start a new one i figured i'd post it here since its the same topic..
anyone ever heard of american modern collector car insurance? i called NJM, my current insurance provider, to see if they offered collector insurance and they referred me to them. $8k agreed value, 3k miles a year, full coverage, 0 deductible...$173 a year. I called haggerty, 8k agreed value, 2500 miles a year, full coverage, $743 a year, but in two months it will get knocked down to $540 because im turning 30. blows njm out of the water, currently i just have liability on my trans am and its running me $440 a year. has anyone dealt with american modern or heard of any people putting in claims with them? thanks. Is there someone that actually checks the mileage on your car to see if you go over?
|
Damn. I pay haggerty $500 for 20k on the Z and 15k on the 67, no mileage restrictions.
|
Who picked the agreed upon value? This is for your TA right, not the Camaro?
IMO you should be pushing for higher dollars. I pay similar to that with Hagerty and 50% more value. I'm sure it would be lower if my driving record was different, too. (also under 30). |

I purposely didn't ask for an amount but had one in mind. Never want to shoot yourself in the foot by lowballing yourself. Coverage attached, pay just under $800 but again it's because of my record as much as age I assume. |
