Pilot lights are evil

I'm always looking for ways to save money these days. When I lit the pilot light for the garage heater it seemed to be larger then normal and you could actually hear the difference in volume. I looked for a way to turn down the pilot flame on line and came across this article, which I found very interesting. We run three pilots during the winter. One for the garage heater, one for the gas fireplace and one for the hot water tank. The hot water tanks pilot helps heat the tank so not a problem. This year I will be lighting the heater and fireplace when needed to see if there is a savings to be had. Here is the article if interested.

On a different note: If the pilot light on the garage heater is visibly larger than it should be, and it's not a unit from the 50's, most likely it's not adjustable and there's an issue with the regulator.

Yuuup, I am down to just the oven with a pilot light and that is fine for now.

Downside is, power goes out and now no more hot water

If you are tankless. If you have a tank, you still have some hot stuff.

In all reality, you should have a NG GENERATOR!!!! Or Diesel, pto powered for them internets
