window tint

i have a maroon 2000 z28, thinking about tinting the rear window and the two side windows. What percent do you guys think would look good on that car?

FoodStampsz 05-26-2010 10:00 AM

30-35%

Firebird92 05-26-2010 11:09 AM

20%

1998chevycamaroz28 05-26-2010 11:09 AM

yea...i would be 30-35%...i have 15% on those 3 windows and its aweful seeing out of at night...i only went that dark because its a weekend car for me and only really take it out during the day...but if its ur DD i would do 30-35%

sweetbmxrider 05-26-2010 11:17 AM

i have 5 everywhere currently. i prefer 5 on the front and back and 15 on the sides.

madness410 05-26-2010 11:26 AM

and its because of that that I say go 5% all the way around. A tint ticket is a tint ticket no matter how light it is. Its a $54 ticket and id be alittle proactive a get the nj fop plates, helps a ton (atleast in south jersey it does)

My old camaro below in the sig was 5% onthe sides and back

Chad 05-26-2010 03:01 PM

ok thanks guys, i dont think im gonna go with 5% thats a bit to dark for me haha, im thinking of doing 20%

Chad 05-26-2010 03:02 PM

i should get the t tops tinted too right?

usp55 05-26-2010 03:05 PM

oh i forgot to say, the %'s is the light aloud through from the outside, but really has nothing to do with the ability to see out from inside the car. Your are not going to notice much if any diff between 5% and 25%. I went from 15% to 5% when I had to rip it off for inspection and its seemed to be just the same.

ttop have the factory tint right, or dot matrix if its a 94

Chad 05-26-2010 03:39 PM

yea the ttops are factory tinted but they still seem to allow alot of light in, think i should make them darker?

BurninrubberGT 05-26-2010 06:38 PM

20%

Chad 05-26-2010 07:03 PM

ok thanks.

nowadays, cops look a little harder usually at cars with the LE support plates.

I got two tint tickets in a week before, first was 54, second was like 80-90$.

i was also with a friend when we got pulled over. the cop actually made him peel the tint off right there on the roadside, or loose his inspection sticker, his choice.

DaSkinnyGuy 05-27-2010 12:02 AM

20% dark enough to know theres tint there but not dark enough you cant see at night. picture below dark enough to let some light through

MonmouthCtyAntz 05-27-2010 05:03 PM

I definately wouldnt do the sides...i had a few fbods that were terrorised daily for full tinted cars...it already attracts attention as it is...imo you'll be wasting your money because eventually youll have to pull it off.

i did, why not :)

Chad 05-27-2010 07:48 PM

daskinnyguy, your car is badass looking, i want those rims for my car, how much did you pay for them?

and about the tint, i deffinatly want to be able to see out at night that is a main concern b.c its my daily driver. I have a few fop cards and my cousin is a cop so id be able to get out of a ticket depending on what town its in and if the cop is an ass.

sweetbmxrider 05-28-2010 07:27 AM

if you want good visibility, i'd go over 15% on the sides. back i'd definitely do 5% no matter what. headlights through the rear window blow

if the nj fop plates you are talking about are the ones with the shield that says 'the price of honor', i hear cops do look harder at those cars. anyone can get those plates if they just walk into a dmv. my friends never have any problems with firefighter plates, pba plates, or fmba plates..you can only get those if you are in the organization though.

sweetbmxrider 05-28-2010 11:11 AM

those are the fallen officer plates. they do have fraternal order of police plates that not everyone can get.

Firebird92 05-29-2010 12:42 AM

http://www.tintlaws.com/laws/NJ/

i had my car broken in too many time that's why i put the tints on
front 35% sides 20% rear 20%

one was in front of the Elizabeth court house( and it took 30 min for a cop to get there) a other was in union they busted my T-tops.
then in Camden NJ they tried to bust the ignition.
last time was in shorthills..

everytime i cop pulls me over i just say you guys can't protect me or my car form being broken into so i had too. most of the time they let me go . i just keep the police reports in the car as a reminder for me.
