$400 and a trophy!!!!

Thanks to Nick* (AntiRiceGuy) for making fun of me to get me to come out today. My Nova is still in the garage waiting for new slicks, so I took out my trusty Silverado! 16.30 isnt fast but it was my favorite number today. I won the Import vs Domestic Street Wars Street Stock eliminator bracket and took home a nice chunk of change.

* although he is partially responsible for my winings, he is not entitled to any!!

I am not bragging, I just wanted to share the excitement.

NJSPEEDER 03-07-2009 07:21 PM

Consistency is what wins, my old Rally Cav was dirt slow, but she had rounds under her belt :)

mc73nova 03-07-2009 07:27 PM

rd1: 05 civic si hatchback
rd2: 96 accord sedan
rd3: 07 civic si sedan
rd4: toyota mr2
rd5: 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee
rd6: (I was concentrating really hard!) it was an older ugly muscle car (had to be a light blue mopar of some sort!)
rd7: 79 chevy malibu wagon (finals)

Tru2Chevy 03-07-2009 07:35 PM

Haha that's great Matt, congrats on the Wins! I used to go to Imports vs. Domestics back in HS it was pretty fun until I realized how badly I was getting ripped off watching every civic spill its guts on the track.

Where there that few imports compared to domestics or did they just all get trailered that early in the going?

Mike 03-08-2009 01:23 AM

tim, i think it was 30-10 after rd 1

Lt1_8U 03-08-2009 03:18 AM

Congrats~ awesome day, i think the fastest pass was a hugger orange 68 camaro 10.0. , a lot of muscle cars so it was nice to watch.

WildBillyT 03-08-2009 08:53 AM

Congrats man! $400 is a decent chunk of change, especially these days!

mc73nova 03-08-2009 10:08 AM

Thanks guys.

There were actually more imports than domestic in the first round! Going into the 2nd rd it was something like 35 domestic 9 import! In rd 4 there were only three left and I got to take one of them out. After the first three races of rd 4, there were only domestic cars left.

BurninrubberGT 03-08-2009 10:28 AM

competition is kinda stupid considering imports always get their butts handed to them on the strip lol
should be called domestics vs domestics lol

ah on second thought f nick

Ahhh can't you just feel the love?

And there were plenty of quick imports, they were just more inconsistent drivers this time. Or they broke.

NJSPEEDER 03-08-2009 08:23 PM

More of the import crowd still rely on manual transmissions. Much harder to be consistent.

As a ratio of stick cars to stick cars who screwed up, imports did worse by farrrr....There were some stick domestics, they just didn't screw up nearly as much or as badly as a whole.
