Yet a other project I have cooking up well my uncle is an ex-state trooper and had a strode kit from a totaled uncover squad-car so he gave them to me and I was like why the hell not put them in my car. So I did and they work but there not as bright as the real police cars and it takes 40 second for them all to come on. They have a capacitor that is always charged or charging when the car is running, but I think some of them are dead how can you check if a cap is charging or holding charge?..

take it off and touch both the leads.....

once you stop screaming, get a analog multimeter, put it on continuity, and test between both leads. If its good, the needle will bounce.

AHAHA ....... ok after i regain Consciousness form the shock,
the needle bounced but its still not working right -.- maybe its the wiring bad ground maybe ?

simple place to start, are the bulbs good?

I'm not a ton of help with the electronics....just wanted to make sure that you knew that if an officer happens to notice these on your car you can get the book thrown at your for impersonating a police officer.

Most towns you can get on a regular scanner... they are digitally encrypted and trunked, fyi...

Hey, you are your own man. Its your responsibility to make sure to keep yourself out of trouble but I will tell you this, If you do turn those on, on a public road (for whatever reason). You are looking at getting into some serious ****, personally I think it would probably look pretty cool but I would never take the chance of installing something like that on my car. Since you got them from your uncle who is a retired trooper, what is his opinion on this?. I know my uncle who is a New York city detective sergeant would stroke out if he found out I did something like this.

Firebird92 06-07-2009 10:47 PM

well he was fine with it. I just wanted them for like e-town or a car-show thing they can't even be turned on if the car is in gear. thanks to my uncle so I'm good lol and i was just j/k before :)

i'm sorry, i left the T off of there, lol.

you cant just buy a regular scanner... as far as a "police" one... you would need to know the freq... like i said, most towns are trunked.

you can get rescue squads and fire departments fine though.

oo mm well back to my uncle to see if I can get one form him

i'm pretty sure he doenst have one. and if he does, and hes retired he wont have his id to key it anymore...

if you really want to be noticed, get LEDs rather then strobes... much less draw, also you can have the car off for hours and have the leds running and not have a dead battery.. and no clicking noise like the strobes do

Firebird92 06-07-2009 11:19 PM

yea that sounds like a plan but these were free so lol.
O well on the scanner,
