Hard drive cloning software
Bought a SSD for my laptop and want to clone the hard drive onto the new one as I can't find my old Windows 7 disc. I'm going from a 500GB HDD to a 120GB SSD, if that matters at all. I only have about 90GB of data on the current drive.
I tried using Acronis True Home, but it wouldn't work. I kept getting errors. Anyone have a suggestion? Also, I wouldn't mind reinstalling Windows, if I could reuse the license key that is currently on it. I originally had Vista, and the copy of 7 I used was an upgrade. Is there any way I can locate the license key from the control panel? As always, thanks guys. |
I don't believe you can get the key from the control panel. I think it's buried in the registry.
Try this: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ |
Yea the Magical Jelly Bean will find it for you :)

It's been awhile but I used MaxBlast from Maxtor a lot when I was more into computers. Never tried it on a solid state disk before.

Awesome. I'll give that a try tonight.
