Bought A New Car This Weekend...

Well not really new...but in the best shape I've ever seen for an East Coast car from the 90's. Its a 1993 Ford Thunderbird Supercoupe. I used to own one of these out in Cali and decided to pick it up on a whim since it was cleaner and cheaper than Ive ever seen. I plan to just put some wheels on it, keep her clean and take her to some shows as an early survivor of the 90s era :D

yeah its absolutely ridiculous how clean the car was for the price honestly. The original owner had everything completely coated underneath and kept up on the maintenance every year. Garage Kept as well.

Heres a few shots from the underside

yeah I've always had a thing for oddball cars and these always seemed like the affordable Grand National to me....since GN's have always seemed to be a bit out of reach

sweetbmxrider 06-14-2015 06:35 PM

Nice, Jay. That is really clean.

The Fixer 06-15-2015 04:53 AM

Were they available with a manual trans like the turbo-coupe?

NJ Torque 06-15-2015 03:28 PM

Not bad. Are these things quick?

Yeah theyre really nice to drive for sure. A bit ahead of the pack for a 90s car to be honest, especially with the IRS in the back.

yeah actually they made quite a bit that were 5 speed. The one I owned in California was a 5 speed, this one is an Automatic sadly, but the body condition dictated that it wasnt an issue :D The 5 speeds in them are the M5R2 out of the Mazda B series and ranger pickups...so its really easy to swap over actually

Mid to low fifteens for the automatics. Ive seen 5 speeds dip into the 14s
under the absolute best conditions. The thing is if you remove the exhaust restrictions and toss on 300 bucks worth of pullies, they gain horsepower quite easily, as anything with Forced Induction does. Pretty much a Rear Wheel drive Grand Prix GTP :D The IRS is fun though :D

Thanks for the nice words everyone. I really do enjoy the car, especially from people that's never seen one before :D

Love those cars. Friend of mine from school swapped a 5.0 into one lol. I love the interior!

How did you get a 90 SC? I know you're too cheap to have bought one. You must've sponged it off your Pops. :D

Frosty 06-26-2015 08:58 AM

Awesome find!

I like the '94-95 update better but still...nice find man. Enjoy!

haha thats funny because the 93 has the best look imo. the 94/95 remodel got the stang style rounded interior and the lt1 looking front end. I do however like the lx style rounded bumpers from 96 but they didnt make a s/c that year sadly. My old 90 SC had a 96 front bumper and hood though :D
