not bad at all.But sumthin jus didnt seem rite on the fwd dyno

Correct me if I'm wrong...... they are not intercooled.... so that power # would not last over a repeated romp
|
non-intercooled but very short run on teh intake side. teh piping is all really close together teh way they packaged it. so the decay of back to back runs would not be terribly dramatic. at least not as bad as teh heat soak of repeated non-ic turbo runs.
good to see the k&n filter was worth tons of power. lol later tim |
And the engine has so much more in it. Its redline is 6500, and with that high revving 2.0 motor, there could be so much in there.
We will just have to wait for the turbo motors coming to a compact car near you 8) . |
Is that 2.0 motor the same engine that gets put in the SAAB 2.0 turbo? I got behind one of those yesterday coming home from the airport and I'll just say that this guy must have abused it or something, because it didn't smell like a happy motor.
|
See how the horsepower is still climbing... a perfect indicator that the heads and cam are big enough for more air from the "air pump." A perfect canidate for a smaller pulley :) . I'm a huge eaton blower fan for a small motor (small as in motors that wouldn't have the power to run n/a 13's). BIG turbo on any v8 seeing as they don't really have a "low speed" torque problem  . The turbo that's coming out should be a fun comparison.

217 HP at the wheels, adjusting for the 17% drivetrain loss...
good lord, that's 253 HP at the crank. WAAAYYY underrated from the factory. and also more than the SRT4, which was rated at 215 HP, but really made around 240 HP at the crank. the 2nd run, with the K&N filter, comes out to 258 HP at the crank. i wonder if the ION redline is the same way..... |
isn't the ION redline intercooled? i would think the Cobalt would be the same way.
|
I think that they have or have plans for an air to water that sits between the blower and the intake. I remember seeing a cutaway of it, but i'm not sure if they are using it....
