Hit the lotto at the Junkyard
Ted & I payed the local junkyard GI Salvage, on Rt. 46 in the Fairfield area looking for three things. 1. A 4th gen camaro rear bezel (me) 2. Ford Explorer Winshield/Anti-Freeze Box (ted), and 3. A/C Delete Panel.
Little background about the Explorer Piece, Ted read on one of the Third Gen Forums, that its a direct bolt in, and it helps make the engine bay good looking. Plus its function, removing the two unsightly over-flow tanks on each side of the engine. And Second since Ted's car will be on a low miles insurance deal soon, he figured he would ditch the complete A/C system, so I told him about the early 80's S-10's that had a no A/C option and how it is a fairly direct bolt in. (You might have to drill an extra hole or two for bolts, but Lexi TransAmChick got my box to work in my old T/A after I sold it) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../6-1-05001.jpg I wanted it because its cool 8) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../6-1-05002.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Dinero/box.jpg Similar Box (photo is from my old one) What the box looks like: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...001_3_full.jpg Those crazy mofo's at the counter wanted $65 for the pannel, only gave them $35, and the guy said I owed $2 and to pay it back next time I come !! I pocketed the Eldorado badge. And they wanted $35 for each part Ted got! Ted gave them $40 for both pieces, the box & heater :D |

very awesome day! I can't believe we got everything we wanted. tomorrow I gotta test out that blower motor..hopefully it works. and as for the washer pump..if the one on the bottle fails, I can try out the one i hid in my tool box
here's how my engine bay should look..all nice and clutterless lol http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...senginebay.jpg ~Ted |
looks good like that, only maybe.......a little cleaner

Good scores.....ditch that K&N cone filter though. You don't want to suck up all that hot engine air in the bay. Go back to the factory setup or make a custom one. Your engine will thank you.

Sounds good. Finally some more real hot roders.
BTW, did anybody else notice that the Ford Explorer intake in the picture has a $310 Competition Cams Polymer Intake. If that's the explorer you guys jacked then grab that intake manifold for $40 and ebay it for $100 :) . Question; How large is that overflow/washer tank and do you have any better pictures of the mounting tabs? I too am cleaning up my engine bay but it's to the nth degree. As in hidden wires, fuel lines, etc. |
Give me a call if youre heading out there again

Washed up the washer tank I think as best as I can get it. Also checked the washer pump on it, works beautifully. I'll prolly sand blast the blower part and shoot it with primer, than with the same black I picked up to shoot the engine bay with it..when it comes time to do. Took some pics today and also got ruff measurments of that washer/coolant bottle. 7" wide, 11" long, and about 8 1/4" high on the highest part. the other side slants. I'll have pics up when everything is installed.
