good job, the straight trucks arent hard to drive at all. The pre-trip is about the hardest part. You did do air brake endorment with that too right??
I got my b last summer using a Frightliner FL80 Box truck. I have my A test comming up June 17th. For that I'll be usuing a 2005 Freightliner Columbia class (Large sleeper cab) with a 53" spread axel drop deck trailer. That outta be fun. I just got my motorcycle endorsement monday, that test was a bitch since my tall ass couldnt fit on the scooter I rented. BTW, heres the truck I mainly drive for my work http://mywebpages.comcast.net/tstrella/temp/dcp1855.jpg |
Yea, at first, I had a Class A Permit which included General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Trailers, and Tanker. My employer felt that I should go ahead and get my Class B first, and when I am experienced to go ahead to get my A. The highest paying position in Roxbury Twp is an Operator (having a Class A) which makes a little over $60,000 a year (that includes the $10K in benefits).

all i ever drove were freightliners. nice cabs, large sleepers. once you get out on the road you see all manner of cab with some pretty strange wheelbase and sleeper combinations. i don't think i would ever be comfortable in a flat-top, though, at 6'2" i needed to stand up without hitting my head and not have to be doubled over to move about. make sure those axles are closed up tight next to each other on the trailer(makes it easier to maneuver). good luck to both of you. |
congrats :)

btw, dont forget to go get a medical card. I forgot to get one till about 5 months after getting my B class. That included numerous trips to charlotte NC, one trip to Florida, and getting inspected at a weigh station on the way down.
Funny thing was the state trooper never asked me for one, but supposedly they are a important thing to carry. IF you dont have one or don't know about it, go get a physical by your doctor and tell him its for a DOT CDL exam. |
