Intake Ideas...
OK...so i finally have some money saved up, and i am sick of my stock intake...i am seriously looking at the Lingenfelter CAI because the Ligenfelter name has always held high regard in my book and i the 12 hp when put on a stock 95 z28 sounds nice, but i have heard mixed reviews...i like the SLP too, but 1)it's kinda pricey($224.99), 2)it has 2 filters(hell on the wallet when they need to be changed)
im just wondering which one in ur guys opinion is better...and if there are any other kinds of intakes out there that i should take a look at, lemme know...im open for different perspectives...one thing is for sure, im definately not going custom on this one |
cant you clean the filters from SLP instead of buying new ones? ask alex about intakes, i think he has looked at a ****load of them
|
they all make teh same amount of power. so basically all you are paying for is the name. get an SLP blem and save yourself the cash.
most of slp's blems are just finish related, a run in the paint or a small scratch or whatever that can be cleaned up in a matter of minutes. later tim |
My vote goes for SLP or one of my home made units
The thing I dont like about ligenfelters is its the same as a K&N & moroso, Im sure if your hell bent on a plastic style intake Im sure one of the others are cheaper you just gotta shop around. Another thing I like about SLP's intakes are their block off plates as well as a mandarel bent tubing, less bends & walls are better for air delivery. I could build you a home made intake for about $20, and Id have to tack on alittle extra for labor on one of my base-plates, I still have my patern laying around or I can just pull mine off again. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...koffplate1.jpg |
SLP all the way!
I have a lingenfelter intake as a back up when I am recovering from nitrous backfires. SLP is superior.... and you can make a nice ram air/ cold air style intake on top of it :) |

and if lingenfelter is the same as moroso/k&n, they don't they come with the block off plates too??? plus ligenfelter is the cheapest out of all the intakes i've seen(at least not on ebay) |
blem means they are blemished. You can get a pretty hefty discount because they dont look as nice as the ones they sell. Same flow characteristics, just might have a run in the paint or a scratch like tim said.
I also second the SLP intake vote. Very high quality. I had on on my GTA (third gen so it was different, but same quality) and I loved it! |
I have a Lingenfelter on mine and love it. The only thing i worry about with the SLP one is, that i believe the tubes are metal, which holds heat alot more than the plastic one, there for maybe not allowing as much performance onthose hot days, but i have not evidence on that and not trying to bash on slp because id imagine all intakes are the same. Price wise the Lingenfelter fit my budget and gets the job done. Took me like 10 mins to install and works alot better than my broken stock crap. Later

My vote as you know is for the SLP.
The filters are re-usable. Yes the tubes are metal but I recall someone measuring the air temperature and the metal not effecting it... I think it was on cv6, but other people (James?) may remember that better |
i like my k&n
|
I also have a K&N FIPK on my '95. Works great, but the filter can only be accessed from underneath the car. Not the end of the world, but anytime I have the car serviced, I can almost guarantee that the filter will be knocked loose in the process and be rolling around in the fender/bumper waiting to be rescued... My brother has a Moroso and seems to be happy with it...

k...so i decided to go with the lingelfelter one...i called today from work to get some info about it and the sales person was nice and answered my questions...plus the have an offer of free shipping on it till the 28th...so i jumped on it...the main reason was the price in the end...i saved about $100 if you include the shipped with the SLP intake
thanx everyone for ur input...and i can't wait to see what it does on tuesday when it comes in  |
