Engine swap, removed front clip?

Has anyone had to remove the front clip to get enough room for the hoist to reach the engine? I have an 88 trans am with the flatter nose, not the 91-92 nose.

I hope we dont have to remove the nose, but would like to know before spending a few hours doing it.

nope... your average hoist should have more than enough "reach" to not have to do that.

Yea, the only thing I ever pulled the nose off of was my '77 Blazer, but that had a small lift and 33" tires.

You shouldn't have any trouble using a regular hoist.

You shouldn't have to pull the fascia off. Just be very careful and protect the paint with some towels in case you have to bring the hoist in really close.

I had a hard time getting my engine & Trans in at the same time with my T/A. It would constantly bend or catch the radiator frame. I was forced to put the engine in first, hold it up with a jack, and then see-saw the trans in off the ground.
