just got away with some stupid stuff

Funny story for tonight.. I just got away with the stupidest **** ever! I was leaving the diner, and my friend told me to light 'em up in the parking lot to show one of his friends what it could do. So i do a nice big smokey burnout, then pull out of the parking lot to a light, make the turn, and theres a cop, sitting right there just getting done with someone else pulled over. He watches me as I go by and sure enoguh, before I got to the traffic light 1/4 mile down the road he had me pulled over. Before he even gets to me, he feels my tires.
Basic transcript....

Him: Hi. License, registration, insurance please. Was that you spinning your tires at the traffic light?
Me: No sir, not at the traffic light.
Him: Then who was it back there spinning their tires?
Me: That was me in the diner parking lot. I'm sorry.
Him: How come? Clearing it out? Getting some anger out?
Me: Well, uhh, there was a girl from out of town and my friend wanted me to show her what it could do. I'm real sorry, it was dumb.
Him: Well, I can appreciate your honesty, I dont condone doing that, but I can understand. It might change how this will turn out. Is your license in good standing?
Me: Yes sir, it's perfect.
So he goes away and comes right back.
Him: Here you go, like I said, I don't condone it, but I can completely understand. Have a nice night. (starts walking away) And thank you for being honest!
Me: Thank you SOOOOO much (insert big smile here)

Oh my god, im still trembling from the mixture of coffee and 'oh ****.' And it was a cop from a known town that NEVER lets people off from anything (Washington Twp). I can't believe I got away with it. Anyhoo, thats my story for the night I figured theres enough bad cop stories out there... this guy was just friggen cool.

BlueFBird 08-08-2005 12:24 AM

Savage_Messiah 08-08-2005 12:27 AM

I did a burnout once (with 3.08 open, mind you)... basiaclly there wa sa cloud of smoke the size of the shopping center i worked at... someone called the fire dept and all the cops and firemen showed up, big rig and all... good stuff

JPiZZiJP 08-08-2005 01:17 AM

I got out of a 130 mph speeding ticket on the parkway. Ask j0n.

Beat that. lol

j0n 08-08-2005 09:36 AM

lmfao...i still dunno how ya pulled that off

V 08-09-2005 12:27 AM

well thats one thing we learned in criminal justice classes, cops dont always want to give tickets,(some do though) but most just want you to feel stupid and know you were wrong and admit it, if you say "i wasnt speeding" or "i didnt know"...you're basically getting a ticket. if you do something wrong, say "yes officer, i'm an *******."..and youll be better off...i know for a fact

unstable bob gable 08-09-2005 01:07 AM

Geez, I had a cop in "Manhole" {Manville} ready to write me a ticket on Sat night because I took up 2 spaces in a basically empty parking lot when i stopped to pick up a pizza! Oh well, at least he didn't write it!

bad64chevelle 08-09-2005 05:49 AM

damn, you got lucky on that! Thanks god that every cop isnt out there to be a dick. I got out of a little "Agressive driving" however the cop only heard me, which lead to him seeing the speeding orange car, and lead to me pulled over. Yeah he pulled me over, asked for licence and registration and then asked me what was under the hood

justin there are 2 washington twp's there. Washington Twp Morris County which is right next to H'town and has a diner right on Rt 46 which is most likely the town and then there is Washington Twp Warren County which is about 15 minutes away which is the town i'm a dispatcher for. I'm guessing it was morris county, but maybe she can fill us in on which town it was.

Actually I'm not sure which county it was for, but I'm pretty sure it was Morris county. The only reason I knew he worked for Washington Twp was cause I looked in the rear view when he turned around and it was a blue car. But I don't remember what the Warren County cops cars are like.

Well, just so you know, there's actually 4 Washingtown Twps. Another in Mercer and the last in either Gloucester or Camden County, can't rememeber. Not that you were down south to be in any of those.

lucky

nice one i had a bunch of freinds at sleazzzzze side tell me to light up the tires on the board walk in my 86ta. well left 35 foot strips but 2 seconds down the road was a bicycle cop.needless to say 5 more bicycle cops showed up and 5 cop cars . my car had no insurance on it and insection was bad. only got a careless driving ticket. the cop was sort of a prick about it dont blame him though i wouldnt wanna ride a bike and be a cop at the same time.soon as all of them got about 50 feet away i let her rip and layed another set of strips. :headbang:

Oops, yeah, thought that one had been mentioned already, lol. So there are 5. Morris, Warren, Bergen, Mercer, and Gloucester counties.

skorpion317 08-09-2005 12:31 PM

the one in Bergen isn't Washington Twp., i don't think. it's just Washington.

Savage_Messiah 08-09-2005 12:31 PM

No, it's Washington Township.

It's township, at least that's what the sign says as you cross from Westwood. :)

enRo 08-09-2005 01:36 PM

Theres a Washington Boro somewhere. Pretty sure thats Morris.

jimmyboy8301 08-09-2005 03:17 PM

washington boro is warren county right in the center of washington twp warren county. I realize there are more than 2 washigton twp's i'm talking relative to hackettstown though. As for the police cars there is no actual warren county police department. We have a sheriffs department and 12 independent police department , with each department having different looking cars. You said the Washington Twp cars are blue, thats Morris COunty, the washington twp warren county cars are black on the front and back and white in che center.

I don't completely agree with that.... If it's something blatantly stupid like 79camarodiva's situation (no offense, i've done stupid things just liek that myself lol), then yes, better to be honest....

...but sometimes if you think you are being pulled over unjustly, or you know that the cop wasn't able to clock you on the radar... the first thing they'll ask you is "do you know how fast you were going?" Regardless of how fast I am going, I always say "The posted speed limit." If you say "I know I was speeding, I'm sorry", they can give you a ticket based on your admission of guilt right there, even if they don't have you clocked. If you say the "speed limit", they can't give you a speeding ticket if they hadn't clocked you, but hey might give you something else (like, a broken light ticket or some other no-pointer).

I've gotten out of several tickets simply because the cop saw me ZOOMING (literally, zooming) through traffic, however he didn't have me clocked, yet he still pulled me over. When he comes to the car and asks "How fast were you going?" and I reply with "The posted speed limit," he's got nothing to go by other than a visual, which doesn't really justify anything and all he can do is give me a warning and say "slow down.'
