Well if your going to do head work it would be crazy not to take advantage of your new free breathing heads with a more aggressive cam. As for heads, the best heads on the market for LT1's is AFR but they are pricey as hell and then there is Lloyd Elliot's which makes some serious power with his port packages combined with larger valves and better head components http://www.eportworks.com/ . Honestly though, a basic LT1 head porting job (gasket match intake port with a matched intake manifold, polished exhaust Â*port) with some higher lift springs with some 1.5 or 1.6 roller rockers. Will make some very impressive numbers for a fraction of the price and when matched to a cam like either a comp cam 305 or even a LT4 hotcam. Will make some serious power. Thats what I would do if I was in your position.

ok thanx i will deff look into that thanx for the help and all that teck talk i have no idea what you said i know some about the lt1 but nothin about heads like i said lol oh and how will this effect my bottom end all stock i am preety sure 2 bolt well more then sure

The stock LT1 bottom end can withstand 500 - 550 Horse. Your fine. Sorry if you did not understand that much or any of my post but honesty, you should do some research on head porting and cams cause its your money and your car and you should know what your getting yourself into. I didn't recommend any of the more radical cams like the 306 comp cam or the Gm 847 cause they may create a streetable problem (although many do have these cams on there everyday driver but its a little too radical for most). Definetly do some research and ask questions to people who currently have cams and head work your interested in. Good luck to ya.

I agree with everything FormulaLT1 stated. If you post what your expecting from the car, HP / ET / how much and what type of driving you plan to do we can give you some option on cam and other upgrades you may need. Convertor, Gears etc.

ok well in that case about 450 hp would be nice and i would like to run at least 12.5 and i got a 2500 stall converter and 3.73 rear and hypertec

Well, with a set of ported stock heads (ofcourse some better head hardware like a set of roller rockers and valve springs to accomodate your new lift). A comp cam 305 or lt4 hotcam. Your headers & CAI, a catback, a 52MM TB, a set of 30 lb injectors and a custom PCM tune. You will be pretty damn close to that.

I'm not trying to discount LE's work, but there are other options out there. If you're looking to get really nasty, talk to E&B Porting down in MD. They are the guys who did Joe Overtons heads. They are incredible.
Definitely though, if you're doing heads, go with a cam to so you maximize the gains. |
ok thanx for the help i will be doing this over the winter so i will have plenty of time to do this ya know so once again thanx
