Wanna talk about a massive saving in insurance?

I was with First Trenton, paying $4,390 per year for full coverage on just my Camaro with no points at 20 years of age... so I finally got sick of it and gave Progressive a call... for 1 year it would cost me $3500, so I was like "This is great, lemme call around some more". I called Geicko, and now I'm paying $1190 per 6 months for full coverage... ****ing great :-D I saved alot more than 15%, i saved around 50% :-D

Savage_Messiah 09-24-2005 10:35 PM

that's awesome

79CamaroDiva 09-24-2005 11:00 PM

wow. I have first trenton, and geico was actually more. But i dont have full coverage, just liability.

Teds89IROC 09-24-2005 11:47 PM

It depends on your area not just driving record. My dad is an adjuster for Geico, so I get a discount plus what geico saves me. Costs me $80 per month for the IROC on liability.

I'm almost 22 and I have a perfect driving record with 2 cars just liability with Geico and I pay like $3300 a year in insurance ...I hate New Jersey, I hate car insurance, I hate Geico, and I hate car insurance.

bitchincamaro 09-25-2005 08:47 AM

i am 22 have 6 pts and two vehicles insured with liability only and am paying a little over 3 grand yearly. i would look for another insurance company slow z

chevyt454 09-25-2005 11:30 AM

car insurance is a ripoff around here IMO. When I lived in Atlanta it was 600 for the whole year. Paid it off in one shot.

Tsar 09-25-2005 11:34 AM

i got you all beat! 100 bucks a month for a 19 y/o with LT1

I've actually gone to every single company for a quote and they're all pretty much the same  I suppose its because this is the first year I have insurance under my name... I was paying $325 a month but my policy is now $277 a month... so I guess if it keeps dropping every 6 months I cant complain.

ar0ck 09-25-2005 06:39 PM

Insurance in NJ is a joke. My insurance droped since I bought my camaro and Im paying $684 every 4 months, so Im paying $2,700 a year on one car! I had 2 points 3 years ago, and I took my drivers safety thing and the state points have been dropped along time ago. And thats only with Liability, Unisured Motorist & a dumb personal injury that had to go on.

I hate NJ insurance.

oh one ls1 SS 09-25-2005 08:58 PM

i think i got all you guys beat... lastyear i was paying $7200 for insurance god damn!! i wish i had that money right now... but it went down 2 G's who knew speeding would make ur insurance go up :hammer:

JL8Jeff 09-25-2005 09:18 PM

Where do you guys get the money to pay that much for insurance and for the car? When I was 20 all my money was going to paying college and books so I had to buy a 17 year old car for transportation. That's crazy to pay more than $2000 a year no matter what you're driving. And you should have full coverage as well.

bitchincamaro 09-25-2005 09:27 PM

i have had my own insurance since i was 20. i just started getting hit with my higher ins. it went up about 50 bucks a month so i know pay almost 250 a month , it was about 200. plust had to send the state a check for 125 bucks for recieving the six pts, now every additional pt is another 25 bucks extra.

There's an age difference here Jeff. I was the same - get full coverage, pay for school, have just enough left over to take the girlfriend to dinner OR a movie. Had to be friends with a few frat guys to enjoy the drinks without paying.

People nowadays do the bare minimum. No long term planning. I bet if they wiped out some judge in their car while street racing, they'd wish they had full coverage.

GP99GT 09-26-2005 09:30 AM

i pay about 1500/year for my GP, on my dads insurance, with Geico. ****, speaking of which, i need to call them and find out what to do about my door sticker

bad64chevelle 09-26-2005 10:38 AM

Chevelle = $500 a year! I also cant drive it more than 3500 miles a year.
Classic car insurance is a good deal.

Amen to that. I pay $500 a year on my Firehawk, too. If you have another car that you can get around in, Classic ins is the way to go.

SteveR 09-26-2005 11:55 AM

I have USAA and I'm paying $3200 for 4 cars. And they're all V8's except one, and that's getting traded for another V8 very soon :D

but do you hate car insurance? Â*why don't you tell us how you really feel?

i just saved my step-son $4000 a year by putting his car in my name and listing the car under my insurance as a pleasure vehicle. i told him no speeding tickets and no accidents. we'll see how it works out.

now, there are those that would say i am committing insurance fraud. i don't see it like that. i see it as saving $4000 a year. sure, if he wrecks it we're in deep ****, but he's not had an accident with his car yet and he's been driving it for two years (knock on wood). insurance in this state is a joke. how the hell does an insurance company end up in debt? the hundreds of millions of dollars that get paid in premiums and they're going to say they're in debt? :kneeslap:

I don't think it's fraud. A lot of people do it, because there's no way for the insurance company to know who is driving the vehicle, unless there's an accident then they can question.

Ian 09-26-2005 05:51 PM

Thats the setup I have. My jeep is in my moms name (perfect record) and its under her policy. I can not be insured in the state of new jersey, unless I want to use New Jersey High Risk Insurance, and I'm sure as hell not doing that!
