Clutch Break In

Just wanted to refresh my memory, but whats an appropriate amount of miles to put on a brand new OEM style clutch?

Any driving restrictions like length of time? Good est. Miles to put on it with grandma driving?

Thanks in advance.

about 500miles of "gentle" driving is recomended.

I think 500 miles of granny driving should be fine. Try not to slip the clutch too much while you're breaking it in either. stop and go driving will break it in quicker than highway driving too.

well...actually....you have a bunch of little tiny clutches in your trans...so technically you do have a clutch. and a bunch of other ones too

way to kill the humor capt. lame

just drive the clutch like you would normally drive it, dont beat on it, but dont granny it, everything will be fine, and anyone who tells you it will lead to accelerated clutch is wrong. we arent talking about a flat tappet cam here, its just street car a clutch, dont glaze it, dont burn it up, dont slip it or anything, just drive the thing, itll be just fine.

Its supposed to make alittle noise at idle (out of gear, clutch out) right?

9secfirebird 10-17-2005 05:23 PM

alittle noise is fine yes. as long as its not a grinding, or its not loud, and you have plenty of oil in the trans, everything should be ok
