hmmm IRS eh?

ar0ck 12-08-2005 11:50 PM

wow, look how restrictive the exhaust looks at the cat! At least its partially a true duel system...

I like the interior drawings, I like the CADS design, but I'm not really liking the over-all concept look of it. Guess we will have to wait till next month; right Al?

Savage_Messiah 12-08-2005 11:52 PM

discuss in my thread damnit!

BigAls87Z28 12-09-2005 12:06 AM

The concept in detroit will look different then this. Like I said in the other thread, there was an 11th hour revision of front and rear end, as well as some other details.
Scott Settlmire is in love with the real concept. I love this concept, I wish they didnt go so 69 with it, but love it. I cant wait to see the more modern front end.

Batman 12-09-2005 07:56 AM

Does it come with those handy jackstands you can see underneath it? :D

12secondv6 12-09-2005 08:13 AM

Well..... from a manufacture's stand point....... it ain't done yet.... so hopefully people don't bash it.

Looks pretty damn impressive from an engineering point.... looks like a lot of bits from the vette :)

Style wise.....outside..... just damn gorgeous..... I can not find a problem area one bit.....and this isn't even a final production car..... we have preproduction cars at work... so I know how things get different from them to final production.

interior.... I'd need to see real pictures....

I was prob the worst person on the site w/ GM comments..... looks like they pulled through.

Since the radical styling (which is gorgeous) I wonder if it will be a slightly limited production car?

if it's as popular as the mustang, they will have to put on extra shifts at the plant to keep up with demand. i, for one, am hoping it is that popular. i cannot wait to see it in person, to touch it, to inspect it up and down. as long as it's a working concept, like the solstice was, it will be neat to see how things fit together, etc.

i like the overall styling. i love the way the seat bolsters appear - something to keep you in your seat while you're pullin .9g turns at 150 mph  the IRS might not make it into production. if it does, it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against a mustang, a corvette (for half the price?!?) and the viper. the shelby camp had said something about bringing back the GT500 - how will the SS fare against it?

BigAls87Z28 12-09-2005 10:30 AM

Ok, the car you see is just a clay mock up. Thats it.
The chassis stuff you see WILL BE production. That is what the Camaro WILL ride on. It uses the same suspension set up that can be found in the CTS-V.
Ill have to find pictures that are floating around of a new CTS-V, and you can see the similarties between Sigma and Sigma lite.

Now, as for the GT500, they seem to be aiming at the Corvette, as Ford does NOT have a Corvette type car in its stable. The GT is WAY to expensive (and still gets its ass handed to it by the 1/2 the price Z06), so Ford's only road is to go after the Vette.
Z28 will be top model as it always has been Anyone who would like to dispute the fact that Z28 has never been the top model, here are somethings to think about

Z28 was always the race car as it was the SCCA Trans Am car that raced in that series. Its 302 could keep up with many 396 SS Camaros.
In 1970, the LT-1 equiped Z28's could run rings around 396(402) Big Block 2nd gens.
From 74 to 95, Z28 was always the top model, and from 96 to 02, it was the top model made by GM. SS was a Tier 1 aftermarket supplied model done by SLP Engineering.
Z28 has always been and will continue to be the top model. Expect a Z28 model to be delayed a year from production, so MY2009.

that would be worthy of trading the vette in for one.

foff667 12-09-2005 01:21 PM

we dont know yet. i assume it will only hint at that design.

i think GM should focus on the interior as well to battle out the big sellers like the BMW and G35. i know its not in the same class but a nice interior could steal some sales from the japanese by doing so.

[QUOTE=jims69camaro]the shelby camp had said something about bringing back the GT500 QUOTE]

FYI, the GT500 IS back. It will be released in 2006-2007. It is supposed to have a supercharged 5.4L putting out between 450-460 horsepower. Retail is supposed to be around 40K.

Hopefully whatever is the highest trim model of the new camaro is (probably SS) I just hope Chevy makes sure it can compete with the new GT500. Ford did make sure to do that right!

Tsar 12-09-2005 03:12 PM

pics in the last post dont work

Savage_Messiah 12-09-2005 03:30 PM

yea they do

damn ford, stealing z06 rims for the new GT500

BigAls87Z28 12-09-2005 04:17 PM

Jesus...SS IS NOT TOP CAMARO!! Arg....

The "chopped" pictures are REAL pictures. It is of a life sized clay model.
As for the engines, probably selection of 3.9, 5.3, 6.0, and new 6.2

12secondv6 12-09-2005 06:00 PM

:woot: V6!

ar0ck 12-09-2005 07:21 PM

FYI, the new Shelby GT500, is the new style mustangs "Cobra".

Ian 12-09-2005 10:55 PM

I just noticed the camaro concept has a 2 piece driveshaft. I dont know how I feel about that from a drag racing standpoint.

Savage_Messiah 12-09-2005 11:34 PM

until 2000 or 01 all the 4th gen V6's came with steel 2-piece driveshafts
