Need a shop...
 

I need to get plugs, wires, and a cap and rotor installed this week and need a good place to do it. I have ngk plugs and talyor wires already but i want a msd cap and rotor. Is their any place open this week that will have the cap and rotor and do an install?

What prevents you from self-installation?

Any shop is open today, but why pay the cash when it takes like an hour or > to do...

I'm ok with my mechanical ability, but not too confident. I really don't have the time or a place(rather not do it outside in the cold), i also need to do plugs and wires

Take it to RS Strauss in Dover on rt 46. They do pretty good work plus its relatively close to u

They would be cheaper then most but not the most relieable, theres lots of places around i just have to call up and compare prices.

Labor for plugs and wires on an LT1 will prolly be quite costly. Do you have stock manifolds? If so, the price of headers will prolly be cheaper than paying a mechanic to do the plugs and wires.

Yeah LT1's are a bitch on labor and people that know the car dont give in easily to working on them... Did you already get the MSD Cap & Rotor? Last time I checked it was still back-ordered.

Bruces speed shop in rockaway gave me some good pricing but their closed this whole week

an hour to do plugs and wires on an LT1? damn man you must be good!!!

Yea. with my experiance and skill it would take me like 8 hours to do plugs, wire, cap and rotor,

So... 8 hours of little experience labor + Cold outside + no garage + no lift + No Time + Parents willing to pay(as birthday gift) = Have someone else do it

have them buy headers as birthday gift, and ask people on here for help installign everything ;)

Do headers at the same time..... much easier for plug swap

I hope they know what they are getting themselves into. Plug and wire swaps on LT1 cars take hours. Literally.

Don't be surprised if many shops don't want to be bothered with carry-in parts. If anything goes wrong, it is a headache for everybody. The shop isn't responsible for free labor to remove & re-install a bad part (even though the customer thinks they shoud R&R it for free). If the shop supplies the parts, then they are responsible. Customers never think their carry-in part is bad. Especially aftermarket parts. But guess what? Sometimes, they are bad. Or are not exactly right.

You should learn to do it yourself. If it is too cold, wait for it to get warmer. A real car-guy shold be able to do plugs & wires.

Get some guys, beer, pizza and tunes. You all will knock it out in no time!

Got it done...had a master technician i know come over and help me alot, car runs great know, thanks for the ideas

Im not positive but i think book time on that job is about 6-8 hours..perhaps more with cap/rotor...i coudl look tomorrow at work for ****s and giggles
