Ever just get tired of your car?

ive been thinkin about my baby of 2 years a lot lately...dont get me wrong, i absolutely love the car, its gorgeous, puts a smile on my face everytime i climb inside, girls love it, runs beautifully, it has its little quirks just like every car, but thats what makes it mine, but theres just sometimes where i feel like i need to move on....ive been thinkin of sellin it, but im not sure if anyone will ever take as much care for it as i did, **** like weekly 6 hour long details, oil changes every 2000 or less miles lol, during the nice months i go thru more tire shine than gas:p...and if i do sell it, it wont be to a kid who wont appreciate it, theres a point where money can change my mind, but if someone totals this car they better hope they go down with the ship:)...anyone else ever get this?

qwikz28 12-27-2005 11:10 PM

yeah... having a beater really keeps the zest alive. my camaro is parked for the winter and i cant wait to till spring, even after putting 20k miles on it last year.

Savage_Messiah 12-27-2005 11:20 PM

Yes here and there, but now I know that from the accident damage I couldn't get **** if I tried to sell it so there's no point in even considering it :p

WayFast84 12-27-2005 11:27 PM

Well I love my car I will never sell it just to get rid of it, especially after the transmision being rebuilt and the new paint. I just get pissed off when people say **** about me having a 305 and wanting to mod it out when the "logical" thing to do is to buy a 350..But I cant wait for my 4th gen so I wont have to deal with that load of crap

Savage_Messiah 12-27-2005 11:28 PM

4th gen... 3.8? ;)

V 12-27-2005 11:31 PM

i know the feeling, thats why i keep a high turn around rate of vehicles, hell i'm up over 50 so far in the 8 years ive been driving. lol. With my SS motor blown, i constantly think about selling it or parting it out, but then i think twice and realize its paid off, not in my way, and I want to build a sick race motor anyway, so then i decide to keep it. Now that im thinking about buying a house in 2 years, The money going to that 422 motor will be used for a down payment, but i'll keep the car, itll just take longer to get done. I will be selling my z28, v6 camaro, and possibly my bronco and s10 blazer, but my vette, iroc and ss will NEVER leave me, sorta because of sentimental reasons. If you are getting tired of your car, I suggest buyign soemthing else, a beater like said earlier. that way you can drive a second car and then really enjoy the T/A. I had a 93 T/A (hardtop, auto, red, ram air hood, leather interior, 111k miles)excellent condition, paid 2k for it and sold it for 3500...now the more i think about it, i regret selling it, so IMO park the T/A and keep it as a toy if you can have the room for a second car. As for insurances, my insurance for an additional car a year under basic liability is under $350 so additional cars arent a big finacial burden usually.

thats what i said when i first got my car, but the novelty has been wearin off ever since...it probably wont go up for sale for say, but if someone makes me an offer i cant refuse:), ill def. consider signing that peice of paper over

V 12-27-2005 11:32 PM

4th gens are crap...especially '01 SS's with a crack up the front of the stupid aluminum engine block....

Squirrel 12-27-2005 11:38 PM

i'd love to rock a beater and the TA...but everytime i walk past the TA and hop in my beater itll ruin my day...so basically i know i can only have one car at a time, because the TA will be like a crack habit, and from what ive heard crack isnt something most people do just every once in a while lol

WayFast84 12-27-2005 11:58 PM

Well I allready got it figured out
Any time from when I get my permit-liscence I will be getting a 4th gen either a lt1 or a ls1 no matter what its gonna be a manual. By then we should have a week end/vacation home In PA and I will keep the bird their and I will buy a cheap ass 86+ camaro and turn it into a show car and keep it here (edison)

so if you plan on having 2 different cars than the one you have now by the time your old enough to drive, why do you have the one you have now?

Ian 12-28-2005 12:46 AM

My personal take on this is if you cant have the T/A and a beater, just sell the T/A and get something else. If the person you sold it to doesnt take good care of it, who cares? Its not like the car is yours.

Dont get me wrong, I miss my GTA VERY much, but its just a car, it can be replaced.

BigAls87Z28 12-28-2005 01:46 AM

While I understand not wanting to sell it, if you do, sell it out of state. 2 big reasons I didnt want to sell my 87 here was #1, I knew that the kid I was selling it to was gunna do great things for it, and #2, I wouldnt have to see it every time I went out for a drive.

foff667 12-28-2005 08:03 AM

Im a car guy so I get tired of my cars quick...my avg car lasts me 9 months...I've owned 13 cars since i was 17 and all were my daily driver at some point. And everytime I look at my backyard I cant but think to myself "I shouldve made the pad hold 4 cars instead of 2"

Fastbird 12-28-2005 08:23 AM

Do you really need ME to answer this question??? :D

JL8Jeff 12-28-2005 08:50 AM

It's a normal thing. You do a lot to a vehicle to make it the way you want it and then suddenly one day you just can't do anything else to it. I've regretted selling some of the Camaros I've had but there will always be another one you'll be interested in customizing to your liking. The only reason to really get attached to a car is because you know what mechanical work has been done and that it runs great. The next car you buy might run like crap and you'll be thinking about the car you just sold that ran great. But in my 22 years of driving, I've never kept a vehicle more than 5 years. Most were less than 2 years.

Multiple times..... sometimes worse than others.

When I grenaded the first enigne.... that was tough.

When I lost an engine, tranny and rear in 1 calander year.... that was tough.

I'm still keepin it...... all the good times, just a nice cruise in the summer and all the magazine coverage makes it all worth it!

What's so bad abotu that? Boxes get crushed up all teh time, what makes 3rd gens any different?

BigAls87Z28 12-28-2005 11:36 AM

Kasey...being a former owner, Im gunna beat you down.
I rather drive a box then the dustbuster or a Sebring.

Savage_Messiah 12-28-2005 11:46 AM

well that doesn't matter... it's not liek you ever drove that lawn ornament ;)

BigAls87Z28 12-28-2005 11:52 AM

Uh, I drove it for 5 years.

Savage_Messiah 12-28-2005 11:54 AM

well a year and a haf of just looking at a car that doesnt move under its own power is a pretty long time  I had to see mien liek that for like 2, maybe 3 months and it was killing me, idk how you lasted that long

BigAls87Z28 12-28-2005 11:59 AM

Probably because for the first year, I was 4 hrs away at college? And only really worked on the car durring winter break when I took it apart, and then the following summer where I worked and broke more parts then I could have imagined.

Squirrel 12-28-2005 12:04 PM

the thing is, what can i replace the TA with that still has some balls, looks pretty decent, and is as rock steady reliable as the bird?...sometimes i just think that the car attracts too much negative attention, especially at school and such
