lost to a v6 explorer... very upsetting...

well last night on the way to and from the palisades center mall(saw "fun with dick and jane") I was driving and so was my friend in his '02 explorer sport 2dr. 2 times from a dead stop he took me by a decent amount. At some 45mph rolls, I did better but he still started to pull. I was SO pissed that i couldnt beat him. Even though I was driving my 1/2ton series fullsize Denali, I expected the Vortec 350 to do a little better. I think the rated hp is like 275. I'm probably expecteing too much from GM but come-on, it was a ford V6. so yeah, this started me on a whole new set of plans....now i gotta make my truck beat him. I can do a catback, K&N intake, and the power programmer and should get a noticeable amount more power. My friend had all that done to his 95 tahoe and he said it woke it up alot, so maybe thatll do, but other than that i really dont want to start getting into headers or internal engine mods. HOWEVER, if it comes down to it, i will, also ive been looking at supercharger kits, lol. yes im crazy, I'm even contemplating an LS1 swap into it. UGH i'm just mad he beat me so bad, lol he's my friend that gave me his 85 IROC and before he left for training i'd always mess with him when I had my SS, now i guess this is a way for him to get even, ah oh well....i still need the Denali to be faster...He will be at Fort Drum for a few weeks so i have some time. :-D

Ive heard some real nice cat-backs on those vortech 350's they sound pretty good. Im sure the magnaflow guys could hook you up with a system.

I guess maybe he took you due to lack of weight in the little explorer.

In jegs you can get a full header back system for like $1100, I forget who makes it though.

LOL, I think just about everyone is faster than me at this point, but i'll make a comeback someday when the SS finally gets built....and thatll go MUCH faster if i can find a dahm gauge cluster with around 47k miles on it. But as for the denali, that may be getting a new motor under warranty anyway.

Now i just gotta decide if i should repair and sell my s10 blazer, or keep it, convert it to 2wd and drop in my 383...hehe

NJSPEEDER 01-02-2006 04:42 PM

sell the blazer and put the 383 in teh 79 vette you have listed in your sig. vettes are cooler than blazers.

trashman01 01-02-2006 05:06 PM

my mom ahs a 02 sport, it rated at 225hp, also it only weighs like 4500lbs compared to the ur tahoe(same thing) which is over 5K so i dont doubt it

WayFast84 01-02-2006 05:14 PM

You need more stickers!!

V 01-02-2006 05:26 PM

well i already have a motor in the vette, its a LT1 out of a 96 Impala SS with 6,609 original miles, runs but i need to do alot of finish work and assemble the body. i think i'll ill just repair the blazer and sell it off along with my 95 v6 camaro and 94 z28 once they are all done.

yeah i was impressed by the explorer sport, pretty quick and does great in snow, My friend got it since he'll be stationed in upstate NY for a few years. When he got home from basic, I asked if he wanted the Iroc back and he just laughed. lol.

WayFast84 01-02-2006 05:30 PM

when do you think the z28 will be finished? and how much??

V 01-02-2006 05:43 PM

for the 94 z28, ill start asking probably around 4,200 obo. I'm not positive, but i should have it on the road in about a month.

V6's rule!

Just get a blower and be done with it.

Coworker has a chevy K1500 pick up extended cab:
mods
cold air kit
headers
high flow cat
cat back
ignition
tranny - shift kit
converter

It's still is big slow POS

V 01-02-2006 06:31 PM

eh i figured, i just wanna get what power I can easily, i dont feel like spending big bucks on mods, mainly because its my daily driver. i'll probably have to learn to deal with having a ...slow.. vehicle. But im the end I still have a 4cyl that will take 99% of everyone on this board.

Your talking about your bike right???

jk

A slow daily driver just makes you appreciate your "toy(s)" a lot more. It seems I only get ricers around me when I'm in the T-bird, it sucks. Then you hear the infamous line "if only I had my camaro" lol

GP99GT 01-03-2006 12:26 PM

ted, we still need to run v6 vs v6....before i swap the motor

Teds89IROC 01-03-2006 12:47 PM

lol you would def. win for 2 reasons. 1. mines a ford 2. it has a miss in it that is mopst likely an injector. I've replaced the cap, rotor, wires, plugs. The car only has 23k on it.

GP99GT 01-03-2006 12:50 PM

well the answer to reason #2 is reason #1

Teds89IROC 01-03-2006 12:52 PM
