Do you think Berger will make a package for the new Camaro

Mustang has Saleen, Roush & others. Berger (GMMG) was on of the last dealerships that still offered an upgrade package for the Camaro. Just wondering if there will be any "super camaros" like in the '60's.

Im sure they will do something. Im sure that within 6 months of the release, that Mallet or Katech will already have a moddified LS7 strapped between the fenders. Im sure LPE will have twin turbos wrapped around.
But they will cost mucho bucks.
It wont take long for hockey stripes and the like.

I wonder, if they make the car, if Chevy will build the SS or if they'll have SLP make them again?

Ed Hamburger was there, both at the Hertiage Center and at the Auto Show.
Difference between 1996 and 2006 is that GM has its own in house performance division that makes SS cars.
Unless they help with Z28, I dont see them having a large involvement outside of aftermarket. SLP Engineering has folded and gone under, but the performance division still exists.

i sure hope so.

I didn't hear anything about SLP going under...but the way I see it, GM of today doesn't seem to get what SS is the way GM of yesterday did.

Just SLP Engineering went under....not the SLP Performance division which is still in Toms River.

i'm still not sure what that means. what is one without the other? so, they can still sell parts that have already been engineered, but nothing new will ever get added to the catalog?

Savage_Messiah 01-11-2006 06:34 PM

yea, does SLP performance have in-house engineering for header,s exhaust, etc? I'm guessing so because of how much of their sales are loudmouths... but they're still developing new stuff right?

berger will def. make a version if the camaro is produced. If theres money involved, its for them. I was in contact with Bergen Chevrolet quite a bit when i bought my SS and i wasnt happy with them.

SLP Engineering was based in Mich, where they put the SS's together. SLP Performance is a second division that deals in the aftermarket. Engineering was a Tier 1 supplier, like Delphi, Bose, etc etc. Once Fbodies stopped being pumped out, Engineering had nothing to do.

As for GM not knowing what SS ment back then, I guess they just need to make big block engines with big carbs, a 4spd and a 12 bolt huh?
For the 3 trillionth time, SS means a lot more to cars NOW then it ever has. How many Chevelles, Camaros, and Novas were shipped to Nurburing for tuning the suspension?
I forgot, if it isnt RWD car and doesnt have V8, its not an SS.
I gotta put that next to if it doesnt have hood scoops and dual side exhaust, its not a GTO.
