no the computer doesn't get effected when the AIR is removed on LG4's. Remove the pump and valves, cap the exhaust tubes and cat tube, then zip tire the wires back. Hell, sinces its a 84, no new belt is needed, just take the one off that goes to the pump. 88's and up with the serpentine setup, require a new belt, but everything else in removal is the same. On OBD I LT1's, you can take the AIR pump off with no worries. With the OBD II LT1's, 96 and up, the AIR pump must be disabled in the PCM after its removed.

completely irrelivent to the AIR system. Valve seals cause smoke at startup.

Dont understand what the hell you just asked about blowing up, but YES. EGR does not run through the AIR tubes, or the headers for that matter on your car. On my LT1, there is a EGR tube attached to the header. On your Gen1 motor ... there is not.
