nj inspections/smog stuff?
I just moved up to NJ a couple of months ago.. and well, I came from FL where there are no emissions. I've got a 84 camaro with a carbureted 305... no smog stuff at all. I'm in the process of acquiring/building a tpi motor... what all will I have to use in order to pass the inspection crap? Will I need to have cats? A.I.R. and all that egr stuff?

If you go to a state inspection station, you will definitely need the AIR, cat, and EGR. They will pop the hood for a visual inspection and fail you if those things arent' in place.
Alternatively, if this is just a weekend cruiser and you have a daily driver, you can apply for Collector Registration, which is for cars that are newer than 25 years but driven less than 3K miles a year. Then you'd be exempt. |
wait so I DO need AIR?? god dangit!!! in the other thread people said not to get it so I reordered headers with out air...Of coarse my luck

you dont......
if it passes the tests and has cats, than they will pass you on ls1's the AIR pump is hidden in the driver side fender, so it would take a well educated person to know if its there or not (i.e. not someone that would work at dmv) |
or u could probably find a gas station that does inspection and slip them 50 bux

Will they pass you if they see a cutout before your cat?
