Dog on Patrol!

My dog was loving the weather today and she's been outside all day patrolling the yard. She goes from one end to the other looking for someone or something to bark at.

And if you can't tell, when there is something or someone moving her tail goes up! If there's no activity it stays down.

79CamaroDiva 02-20-2006 04:41 PM

my dog's too lazy to bark.

OneFast383 02-20-2006 05:20 PM

What's really strange about our dog is that she was part of a litter of 8 pups. The mother was a grey lab and the other 7 pups were grey labs and she was the only black one. 6 of the grey pups were really tight, short fur like you expect with a black or grey lab. Our dog and one of the grey ones had really fluffy fur so we didn't know what to think. She looks like a mix of a black lab and a golden retriever. She has long fur that sheds constantly. She's definitely a unique dog.

jims69camaro 02-20-2006 07:43 PM

ruby > kayla

i was going to guess retriever family, jeff. mine sheds constantly, too, but i get as much of it as i can in the brush every morning.

BonzoHansen 02-20-2006 07:58 PM

Jeff, that is a good looking dog. Growing up I had a long hair lab. Both her parents were show dogs, a lab & a golden. So I guess she got a golden's long hair & a lab's color. When she layed in the sun, she kind of had real dark red hair. Great dog. Dad trained her well, she never left the property.

Like Geroge Carlin said, life is a series of dogs. We got her when I was in 3rd grade, she died the week of spring finals my senior year college. Nice run for a lab.

Geez Ian, what do you guys do, run a kennel? One dog is enough for me. My dog definitely has lab in her, but she won't go in the water past a foot deep. She fell off the dock when she was a pup and she's been afraid to go in deep water since then. She did walk off the back of my boat one time. We were in about 5' water and it was clear so you could see the bottom. She hopped down on the swim platform and started to head for shore. She went at least a foot under water which dogs don't normally do. I had to jump in to lift her back onto the swim platform.

Yeah, shes a pure bred akita, almost 9 years old, and still acts like a puppy. She's the best, happiest dog i've ever had. They tend to get a bad rap, but as long as you train them and socialize them from day 1, no problems. She rarely barks, and never barks outside which I'm sure the neighbors appreciate.

Savage_Messiah 02-21-2006 03:44 PM

Honestly melissa living next to Island I'm pretty sure the neighbors wouldn't mind a dog barking

camaro2you 02-21-2006 04:44 PM

Pic of the pit golden retriver mix up at my bro's house. Best dog ever. Alittle dark but its from my camera fone.

JL8Jeff 02-21-2006 05:06 PM

My sister in-law had an Akita. Man, that was a big dog. He was a friendly dog but just looking at the size of him was pretty intimidating. I heard he grabbed a poodle to play with one day. That story reminded me of "A Fish Called Wanda" when the dobermans grab the poodle!

yeah, she doesnt act intimidating at all other than to certain people that she's just never liked. Usually she's all wiggly and stuff with new people. However, she does not like dogs. She's grabbed my neighbors yellow lab by his lips and almost pulled him throguh the fence on a number of occasions.
