well, its confirmed, my block IS cracked. lol
i finally got it back on jackstands since August to get the headers off, and I figured id take some pics and check to see exactly what damage was visable. I cant see any damage to the crank or any rods from the angle into the oil pan, but something must have let go for the pan to blow out like it did. The second shot is the passenger side of the block. The section on the block right above the oil pan and before the crack, is actually out about 5mm from the rest of the block with a crack going up the side. The pic doesnt show it too well but you can get an idea. On tuesday the car is going to the shop to undergo warranty work finally.

Not really sure right now what did it, wont know until i have it out and apart. It was running horrible then just blew up upon startup in my driveway.
I have to buy the new rotating assembly and heads soon, then ill have to buy all the other parts, spending money is fun. hopefully the car will see the road again in about a year. This spring, im gonna finally install my 2 post lift in my garage so itll be a snap to drop the motor out. |
ouch. pics of the new block?
