ID this TPI runner! 56K, make a sandwich.

okay, who makes this? I've never seen it before, kind of a strange shape to it.

stock runners on the bottom, oddball runners on top.

taht almost looks like the really early accel plenum.i can only guess that the runners would be the same. the base manifold looks like it is a poorly ported stocker since the holes are a funky shape.

Ian 03-20-2006 08:00 PM

I thought the base was ported too, but if you look closely, it has a lot of extra material around the port, so that rules out ported stock base.

V 03-20-2006 08:20 PM

it almost looks like a stock base, with extra material added/welded on and then ported. the upper plenum also looks like possibly stock with the divders cut out which many guys do. The runners may be the only true aftermarket parts.

Ian 03-20-2006 08:29 PM

it still looks like the base is a different casting. there is a bolt hole between the openings in the base

here is another pic of the runners.

hmm..true..i dunno.. maybe it was a protoype casting by some company.. do you have that, or just pics?

Ian 03-20-2006 08:41 PM

just the pics :(

someone on TGO posted them up a while ago, he actually has them, but he doesnt even know the story behind them. :?

JL8Jeff 03-20-2006 09:30 PM

That looks like a stock GM base, you can see the winter's snowflake on the manifold. It could be a built up and modified base. If it was a prototype it should have a casting # on it showing that.

The Fixer 03-20-2006 09:37 PM

Maybe it's a modded FIRST intake? Check the bottom of this page - http://www.firstinjections.com/products.htm

Ian 03-20-2006 10:11 PM

AHHHHH, okay, that would explain this picture a little better then  ....

Has anyone heard of someone actually running that setup on a motor? if so, what kind of power did it make?

V 03-21-2006 01:58 AM

but the "first" manifold setup has 4 piece runners(2 parts per side) the first pic you posted are still a 2 piece runner setup...

Ian 03-21-2006 05:56 AM

hmm, I guess its still unresolved then

BigAls87Z28 03-21-2006 08:12 AM

Ian, the last pic you put up is of a different set up the then unknown set up you started the thread with. You can cearly see that the runners on the First intake are solid, not seperated like regular TPI runners, and are 2 seperate pieces.

The Fixer 03-21-2006 08:22 AM

Check the link I posted to FIRST's site. The runners are individual tubes on the inside, but solid on the outside. I believe they're designed that way so if you wanna port them more, you have room without having to redo the outside.

JL8Jeff 03-21-2006 09:25 AM

Yeah, it sure looks like the First intake.
