I am 14 second challenged

R/T - .180
60' - 2.286
330 - 5.967
1/8 - 9.001
MPH - 81.32
1000 - 11.598
1/4 - 13.781
MPH - 102.74

Who ever thought I would ever get 12 runs at Englishtown on a saturday! Thats unheard of!!!! I also made three new personal bests with a lower 60ft, faster ET & MPH! I am more then excited! All I need to do now is launch harder, and open the cut-out and I can defenitly see some lower times.

I started the morning off with a 14.1 with the air-filter on. Then I removed the air-filter and went 14.0 but it sorta went down hill from their because I was hot-lapping ending with a botched launch (forgot traction controll was on) resulting in a 23 second 1/4  . I finally took a chance to open the hood and let the Electric water pump do its job and cool the engine down when I finally ran a 13.8!!! I was so excited, the next few runs resulted in low 14's with high mphs then I finally busted out a 13.7 after another break!

Only thing I did different was hit 3rd every time , but I rolled out of the light each time to save my car from abuse and just got on it. One thing I think I could use are bigger gears or a harder launch. I end up crossing the traps at the top of 3rd and Im forced to shift into 4th and thats probably hurting since the RPM's drop so low.

But thats about it...

P.S Where do I find pictures from todays event from the track photographer?

Tsar 03-25-2006 03:13 PM

Congrats dude

deadtrend1 03-25-2006 03:37 PM

my car went 13.93 @ 102.00 with a 2.241 60'. After all the spohn stuff i put on and the newer non roasting clutch, I'm sure its got faster times then that.

all that work and you still only have a 10th on me:p, congrats man, we all knew you'd get there at some point

turbo96z28 03-25-2006 04:13 PM

congrats!!!!!!

i think a harder launch might do the trick.

1984camaroz28 03-25-2006 04:49 PM

i was cuting 1.8 60 foot times in my lt1 with just headers a cat back and 4.11s

GP99GT 03-25-2006 04:59 PM

yeah you need a way harder launch. i cut 2.10 with FWD and all season tires, you can do better than that

Slow 88 03-25-2006 05:13 PM

Congrats!! what tires are you running?

Squirrel 03-25-2006 05:24 PM

enRo 03-25-2006 05:40 PM

Finally, welcome to the 13 second club. Ill be leaving very soon tho ;-)

Im expecting a 13.5 out of your current setup, you just need to launch alot better and harder.

:kneeslap: I coulda owned him by moonwalking down the track muahahahahahahaha

ar0ck 03-25-2006 08:00 PM

What happened was I turned my car off in the pits real quick and forgot to hit the traction controll button again. I don't burn out, so I just rolled up to the lights with my boss, completely un-aware the "ASR Off" light wasnt on, staged to 2k, dumped the clutch on the last yellow and the car bucked and kicked all over the place  It just wouldn't launch then 2nd kinda grinded  so I just gave up and just drove down the track.

I have a homemade CAI, magnaflow cat-back, pulleys, tubular LCA's with relocation brackets, 1LE sway bars, shocks, springs through a 3.42 rear at 3680 race weight (I still had my back-pack in the back seat )

Time to go on a diet, do an oil change, short-throw, and gears.

12secondv6 03-26-2006 01:33 PM

Congrats!

There is much more in your car.

Tire psi is one.
Practicing is another.

Probably one of the best things you should do is, nothing.... and keep on working at it. You could sneak into the 13.5 range.

LT1's are tq monsters for down low.

I would avoid doing gears for now because you won't hook for ***** at that point and you will need drag radials

btw, you still gotta keep up w/ me ;) I'm at 13.746 ;)

NJSPEEDER 03-26-2006 01:48 PM

that is a strong trap speed. you can prolly go 12 hunting is you can get that short time into the low 1.8's or high 1.7's. maybe you can borrow some tires from someone some time and really get after it. see what is really in that car. :)
congrats on the new times.

Ian 03-26-2006 04:32 PM

did you run with the ZR-1's on the front or did you swap on your salad shooters?

Koll 03-26-2006 05:47 PM

I still have better 60's

I cut 2.1s and 2.2s all day.

yep ZR1's all around. Steamrollers on the back  Like I said the 60's are slow because I just layed into it, no need to beat the ever-living crap out of my car. Im just not brave enough for it.
