TPI fuel issue
 

replaced fuel pump relay, fuel pump, ignition module, checked fuses and still nothing. Everything else works fine, just no priming when I turn the key. Any other ideas?

Maybe the VATS is messed up? Did you try another key?

hmm, I actually used one key before I put the new relay in, and then today I used a different key with the new relay in. But I think if VATS was causing it it wouldn't even crank.

it would crank, the starter is seperate from the VATS, just the computer would not activate the fuel/spark system i believe

hmm, I'll have to check my VATS wire going into the ignition. Months back the VATS took a **** and a replacment was I think 100-200 bucks. So I got the ohms off the chip on the key and bought a resistor that matched it, soldered it in line and it worked. It has come undone before. Though, I did have spark...

ok, VATS is out of the question, everything is fine there. However, I did notice that now my fuel pump fuse keeps blowing. I also noticed my connection for the alternator came off, which makes sense why when the car broke down I lost volts. If that wire coming off the alternator touched metal (which I'm sure it did), could that cause a short and fry something? I only question that because it's not a hot lead. I traced around wires from that fuse and don't see anything visible that would cause a short. At least my problems are narrowed :lol:

solution.....buy my IROC and transplant....

yes the altenator wire would do that!!!! My shorties burned through all of the wires going to the starter but it did not blow a fuse but it rater blew the fusible links, go to autozone and buy the fusible link wire and replace the fuseble links with the wire.

I had the same thing with my shorties and the starter wire, but the wire off the alternator and that junction have no fusable links.

UPDATE!!

Tried a new relay, made sure no wires were oil soaked and/or exposed. Go to start and the fuse would blow. I went underneath and unplugged the fuel pump from the connector located under the car next to the tank. Went to start and the fuse didn't blow. I'm thinking a faulty fuel pump. I e-mailed the company about sending it back for a replacement and in the eman time I'm going to drop the tank again and pull the pump out and check everything. Probably bench test it too.
