older vehicle inspection
i gotta get the 75 stang inspected, im curious if it has to meet current standards or those from 1975? did cars have cats and such back then and do they probe em?
|
i believe it has to meet the standards from back then, thats what they had to do to my cousins 91 s10 because he had a 350 out of a early 70's camaro.
|
Yep, you just have to go by '75 standards.
PS - I passed you on Kinderkamack Rd. the other day. I was in stealth-mode tho; my wife and I we were in her Jeep Liberty. |
haha that stang is my stealth vehicle, noone i know would ever think i would drive a car like that.
did they have cats in 75? i got a sorta new pipe in the cats place but i dont know if the old one rusted away and another pipe was put in or they took out the cat and put that pipe in its place. |
easiest thing to do is to register it as historic. No inspection, and free renewal registration.
|
its a temporary DD, then it gets sold
|
Cats were introduced in 1975 IIRC. If you want to duck out of inspection you can opt for historic (QQ) or collector's registration. Personally, I'd go with the collector's.
|
IIRC cats were introduced in the mid 70's but not required on cars until '77.
Not sure what the rule is on whether or not you will need them if the car was originally equipped. - Justin |
i read up a lil on the cat, it was started in 1975 but my stang has a build date of 10/74.....no cat :)

See if you can check an assembly manual for a cat's original presence. |
