Ha. Go slap your friend in the back of the head. LS1 heads won't bolt up to a GenI sbc.

what about gen III vortec? specifically a 99 gmc sierra 1500.

yes, the 99+ GM pickups had the 5.3 motor, ls1 heads will bolt on to that.

All gen III motors are on the LSx platform, so head interchange is fine. Those are just called Vortec. They share nothing but a name with the GenI vortec heads.

Athough LS1 heads incorporate the same basic principles as the GenI vortec heads, they are not interchangeable.

:stupid:

gen 3 motors can interchange parts with one another, but not gen 1 or 2 motors. the gen 1 and 2 can swap 99% of their parts between one another, but the gen 3 is a "clean sheet of paper" design. it shares nothing with the gen 1 and 2 motors.
