Blue Devil approved for production

the driving school thing is a pretty good idea IMO, problem is i think people with that kind of money probably think that they don't need it.

MB has been offering several 600+ HP cars for a couple years. SL65, CL65 and S65 - 604 HP and 738 TQ
If you can't handle the power, don't buy it! On average though, people who aren't used to the power won't ever really wind the cars out. |
i have never heard of a car company requiring a driving school to purchase a car. it is an interesting idea.
porsche, bmw, and benz(occasionally) have offered driving schools for their owners, usually through an established performance driving schools like bondurant. |
i think an IQ test would be more appropriate.
remember kids - money does not equal brains. |

Actualy, Ferrari demands that you take a driving test if you are lucky enough to purchase the 1.5 Million dollar Ferrari FXX Super Enzo. You also buy into the Ferrari F1 Racing team, and become a member.
As for the BD, while a fantastic idea and im sure will be bad ass, and this will sound wierd coming out of my mouth, but its still a Corvette. Its not major exotic car with a mid mounted motor, AWD, 6spd clutchless manual, with near-racing perfection. IMO, a 100k+ supercar should be mid engine, and probably fall under the Caddy name. And another thing, why are they pushing big hp in the Vette, when that money could be put into bringing us the Zeta II cars, or the next gen Epsilon II cars. |

They are not going for high profit, but im sure that this will bring in a good penny to GM.
I just think that the money could have been spent better. Hell, making the XLR-V a better 100k Sports car to match the SL55 and higher would work for me, or just giving the regular XLR an updated and much improved interior. I could go on, but I wont. |

i couldn't agree more. while a $100K+ Vette will draw some attention, that attention could also be drawn in with the new ZII and EpII cars hitting the market sooner than later. |
its all about appeal. if you have a car that competes against the ferraris and the lambos then people are gonna look at chevy and be like "wow those engineers must really know their sports cars." and since those same engineers are gonna be making the fbody and other sports cars people will say "well if they can make a car to compete with the exotics, their other cars cant be too bad." and then you go from there
its all about making a name for yourself and then going from there. you have to prove you know your **** and that your better then everyone else before you can outsell everyone else |
Good point, but GM already proves it can beat out Ferrari and Lambo on the track with the C6-R.
GM proved it can beat out teh M3 and RS6 in SCCA GT Racing, before they were saddled with major major restrictions. Z06 can also match a lot of the exotics on the track as well, without going up the power levels. |
That's a pretty interesting article.

The only good thing this gives us is that the Corvette bar is raised...which could give us higher performance cars to fill in the void.
Esepcialy a certain car that will be coming out in about 2-3 years. |
people with money will still buy an exotic, its gives more flash appeal. i mean how many vettes do you see per day? and now think how many ferraris/lambos you see per day. not everyone cares about performance, i think people seem to forget that sometimes.
|
I don't think they are marketing a "super vette" to an Enzo buyer....they are marketing it to the guy who wants an Enzo, but doesn't have a prayer of affording one.
