why would u put a bypass valve on that,i thought the upgrade was a to atmosphere valve on those cars

GP99GT 05-09-2006 09:15 PM

only reason to go atmosphere is for the sound, really.

atmospheric messes with the maf and a few other things.... the right way is to ricurculate it.

the EVO has the MAF right after the air filter, like a DSM? if so, then thats true...but i thoguht most modern cars have the MAF on the throttle body. if thats the case then you could run atmospheric

i did my research, im not sure where the maf is i havent even checked, but everyone recomends the recirculating one

project89 05-10-2006 06:28 PM

yeah i was thinking evo had one on the tb
im gonna run a to atmosphere valve on the rs and its a maf car, as long as the bov opens and closes fast enough it wont cause the car to go rich

GP99GT 05-11-2006 03:41 AM

the problem isnt if it "opens and closes fast enough"...on a DSM, the stock BOV would recirculate AFTER the MAF (the MAF was built into the air filter housing) so the same amount of metered air would be there. if you took off the hose and plugged it, youd be venting that metered air to atmosphere, thereby making the car run slightly rich.
