Insurance(4th gen owners)

Does insurance for trans am's cost more then camaros? Im talking about all v8 models here. Would a formula be cheaper then a trans am? z28 cheaper then ss? lt1 cheaper then a ls1 car? I know it depends on records and ages and stuff, but Im just trying to get an idea here. I was in shock when I heard some one pays 3900 in insurance for their t/a(no names)!!

Tsar 05-13-2006 10:48 AM

well LS1 car would most likely will be more expensive because its newer. as far as z28 and TA goes, it should be the same, cuz its the same car. formula is the same too. Another thing if you finance a car you'll be paying way more then i do, i pay 100 bucks a month and that's it, but i only have liability.

Well for your age, even if its under your moms name your talking big bucks. When I was 18 and looking into a 99 Z28 I was quoted at $9,000 a year on insurance since the car would have a loan out on it. When I first got my LT1 camaro I was paying 4,000 a year and its been going down ever since. I just switched my Insurance to IFA and now I am paying $900 a year. Im 20 with no accidents or points.

jimmyboy8301 05-13-2006 10:58 AM

i pay $1900 a year for my SS with full coverage.

WayFast84 05-13-2006 11:22 AM

so if u are financing its more? damn better save up!! or at least do a ls1 swap....damn insuurance

Rich189 05-13-2006 11:24 AM

im 18 with 2 accidents one was 0% my fault one they considered 10% my fault no tickets im paying 2800 a year under my dads insurance

ins0mnia24 05-13-2006 11:32 AM

$1,875.00 a year full coverage with a $500.00 deductible on my 02 Z through Geico , 2 points on my license
july my car will be paid off finally so it should go down a lot if i drop the full coverage.

WayFast84 05-13-2006 11:33 AM

whats a deductable?

ins0mnia24 05-13-2006 11:39 AM

it means if i got into a accident or wrecked my car i would have to pay for the 1st 500 bucks in damage
for instance i get into a wreck and cause 4,000 in damage to my car i have to pay 500 bucks of it out of my own pocket
thats how all full coverage insurance works you get a deductible 500-2000 or so i have seen some friends with.

Call your family insurance broker and ask him/her all these questions. They can look up rates by the vehicle. You won't get the right answers here, unless you find people with each type of car you asked about insured for the same amount by the same company, and they are all the same age & have the same driving record - and maybe credit score too.

New Jersey Manufactureres > all

my 91 RS i paid just under $1000 a year for full coverage with a $500 deductable when i was 20 and had 2 speeding tickets :D

currently i pay just over $700 a year for insurance on both my cars, full coverage on the camaro(agreed value + limited use policy) and liability only on the crown vic.

NJM is also very good about getting things taken care of when you actually need to use the insurance. when i had my accident they took care of all the medical filings, got my rental car set up, got teh car moved from PA to my local body shop, and took care of everything else that came up. the chick handlign everything just called to let me know what was going on and ask how i was doing once a week.

Maybe in NJ but everywhere else State Farm is waaaaaaaaaaaay better than Geico.

enRo 05-14-2006 09:18 PM

State Farm sucks the hairs off a gorillas back ... they weren't accepting new policies 4 years ago... at first I was with First Trenton ... for full coverage on my 2001 Z28 (when i first got it) they wanted $4800 a year with a CLEAN driving record... I switched to geico and only pay $1200 per 6 months with full coverage and clean record.

Frosty 05-14-2006 09:38 PM

Yeah, they realized the insurance laws in NJ are a complete joke, which they are. The corruption is so bad it's not even funny.

State Farm stopped writing new auto policies. NJ told them after a while that if they don't start writing new policies they had to pull ALL of their other insurance policies(home owners, renters etc). Needless to say they're doing auto policies again lol

I pay $145 month for full coverage on the Z, liabillity on the Corsica and renters insurance. Geico wanted $2500/year just for the Z.

State Farm FTW
